Hot weather hiking pants

I'll throw a vote in for a @Cliff Gray suggestion, the Wrangler outdoor pants at Walmart. $30 a pair and I use them for anything including hiking, hunting, wet wading, and outdoor work. They're stretchy, comfortable, and dry super fast. Also, decently tough for what they are, put 60 miles on them during MD Bear last year, performed well.

It’s lighter than the Gila. One of my buddies has a Gila and we compared them one day. The Tiburon is so light it feels like it floats. It’s been surprisingly tough, couple week long elk hunts and a lot of day use and it’s still in one piece with no holes.

Thanks. I was a touch unimpressed with it. I assume the Tiburon breathes better also?

As a shorter guy i hate that they don’t come with options for inseams, especially at that price point. Do you have a comparison for the tiburons to the Ferrosi pants from OR? They’d have to be much superior to justify the price point. I can get two pairs of the or for the cost of one tiburon.

I only have the ferrosi jacket and have never messed with the pants. I use my jacket for a bit of wind and soft shell light precip or cutting the edge off chilly air. I wouldn’t say pants in that material would be all that great above 65-70 if moving much at all.

There is nothing out there that can come close to tiburons. Sit in the shade with a little breeze in September for a mid day break and you can be shivering in a hurry.

Yeah I had mentioned in my post they do not fit me around the calf’s, I wear 28 waist and it’s a common problem that pants in that waist size are tight on my lower legs, so unfortunately the atg are out for me

@calebflies
Ah my bad, totally zipped by that, didn’t think they were the same model for some reason. I will say though that the general concept of going on the less expensive end for early season is the move when possible. Always nice to save money for the warm stuff.

I havent used any of the kuiu pants to compare. But I have OR Ferrosi pants that I like, just ordered a second pair. They are a softshell pant like many of these, but definitely on the lighter end of the spectrum. I would say they are good/OK for anything up to “I really want to be in the shade” temps. I do use them for summer backpacking. One thing I like about them is the waist—its pretty trim, doesnt require a belt to stay up, and for me doesnt create pressure points under a pack hip-belt. I havent heard folks above mention this, but since the OP mentioned backpacking I would be curious about this on some of the kuiu pants mentioned.

Kutana vs tiburon vs ferrosi:
Performance in heat/humidity (mid 70’s-90’s)
Waist band /pressure spots under a heavy pack hip belt from belt loops, etc.
