Very excited for this. Planning on a family camping trip that weekend which will be perfect for finding an unfamiliar place to shoot. I have a few long range spots that I frequent and am now pretty good at judging the conditions there. This had led to some unrealistic confidence.

A few years ago I missed this buck at what I *felt* was within my MER. I missed right over his back and just could not understand why.. months and years later I attribute it to a combination of strong updraft and too soft of a rear rest. Would not have understood those effects without additional practice in realistic hunting situations and focusing on the cold

To attach videos on Rokslide is it best to use YouTube and link via url etc?

Went out shooting this morning for a test run and can’t figure out how to get my video on here

This is going to be awesome. I’m afraid I’m going to have to use the ol 6.5 cm … all the memes I’ve seen have rejuvenated my liking for this superior long range cartridge.

Although,If what I hear on the internet is true, seeing my bullet splash on the plate (if my bullet has the energy to make it there) will be difficult past 300yds . Pray for me, and the little 6.5
Well, I got you beat. I'm going with the much much more powerful 6 creed. Who needs bullet splash when you can just flat out knock the target over.

I am planning on using the 6.5 Jesus but I just got word my 6arc barrel will be here in this week so hoping I can get that little sucker setup and maybe use it. 🤷‍♂️

I am definitely doing this, even if I don't make it in the challenge. Though I will be debating between the 338 RUM vs 300 WM...I might do both on separate weekends for my own knowledge.

Is this the thread to post in when participating in the Cold Bore challenge? Or will there be a new thread and this one is strictly for Q and A? An example entry would help me a bunch. 🤔Interesting concept!

Testing out the video for my shots, this was at 650 this morning- aiming for light spot on top rock that’s about 6” . Miracles do happen - the 6.5 made it there

This will just be for Q&A.

I'll start a new thread where only official entries will be allowed.

Awesome!

Just for everyone's awareness, rocks will not be allowed as targets unless you are able to mark a 10" circle on them.

No power factor, right? If my 22cm barrel gets here in the next 2 weeks I may try to roll with that for this challenge. This is Rokslide, where 22 and 24 cals are the preferred elk cannons.

As long as it's a rifle you hunt or plan to hunt big game with, it's allowed.

Head over to the Cold Bow Challenge and scroll down to post #4 to see Robby's post. That's what we're looking for.

@Justin Crossley for those who are not likely me, one qualifies at 600 and then CANNOT shoot any other shots before whatever 601+ additional two shots, correct?

I am certain that when @KickinNDishin and I go out to do this; hang cameras, shoot, camp for the night, shoot again, etc. When we finish that second shot we will likely switch body position to see what the MER is for sitting, kneeling, standing etc.

Just want to make sure I know if I'm feeling like shooting at 600 for the two, I need to keep in the back of my mind no more practice until after my two separate days beyond 600.
