Day 2 Recurve
Got it again! I still don’t have a ton of cold shot confidence with trad so this has been great.

Long time listener, first time caller. Drew an archery tag for the first time in 7 years, timing could not be better to apply pressure and get a reality check. I’ve never taken anything with my bow beyond 34 yards but had a shot at 50 that I wasn’t comfortable taking in 2019 — the goal is to stretch it out a bit but focus on the effective range I want to take to the field this fall.

The Target: 48.2, tucked in the shade

Day 1:
Standing, 4mph L-R breeze, 84 degrees.

Target measurement for reference, anything inside the four outer dots is 8.25”

Day 2: Standing, dead calm conditions, 67 degrees — held for ~25 seconds before breaking the shot, fatigue is real 🤣

Day 3: Standing, 6-9mph L-R breeze, 87 degrees, cleanest break of the 3. Did a 4 minute assault bike tabata to get the heart rate up then went directly into shot sequence: range, exhale, nock, slow inhale, draw, and walked the aim 20 yards R-to-L into the wind to simulate a moving animal, held on target for wobble zone to shrink, slow exhale, send it, follow through, nock a 2nd arrow, draw, lower.
