This is going to be awesome. I’m afraid I’m going to have to use the ol 6.5 cm … all the memes I’ve seen have rejuvenated my liking for this superior long range cartridge.

Although,If what I hear on the internet is true, seeing my bullet splash on the plate (if my bullet has the energy to make it there) will be difficult past 300yds . Pray for me, and the little 6.5
Hmmm…6.5cm. If it bounces off the paper target I believe we’ve decided that’s a miss, right @robby denning ?

I have a few target locations picked out. I am hoping to get targets out this week or weekend. My little boy wants to shoot the challenge with me. This spot is about 5 miles from my house so if I can get some targets up we should get a little practice in before it starts.

Best part about the cold bore challenge and the cold bow challenge is that you can be a moron, before it really counts!. Went out today for a practice round and a video and forgot my phone scope adapter. Did the cold bow challenge and forgot my release one of the days. I am too young to be this damn forgetful! I did have a first round hit on a rock at 844 yards but no video so I guess it doesn’t count! Lol.

I'm going to load up my 85gr hammers from the pink and orange custom kid paint 20" 6.5creed with the 6xSWFA just to hear you whine.

careful! He's been handing out a bunch of "Tony Awards" lately.

I'm immune from this one because @Ucsdryder knows first hand the true power of the fire breath.

IF I were a score keeping kind of guy, and I am, his rifle barked twice per slain deer last year, and this rainbow warrior had a 1:1 ratio...

You don’t get an award when your baby deer dies in 1 shot. I wait a long time to go hunting, I like to keep shooting!

Went for a hike today and took two hots at 610.
Both were good elevation but left. I believe that there was wind across the canyon. There was on top of ridge but none where I was so I failed to acknowledge it.
Guessing target rock was 20" tall x 10" wide but didn't hike over to measure.
Shooting platform was steep and didn't feel great about position until I got a jacket under right elbow.

Really enjoyed going up trail with no gun visible.
XLR with 18in barrel fits in the SG 5900.

Love it! Just got a new element 4.0 folder and can’t wait to do the same

I'm planning to drive into the mountains for my MER shots, as I feel like that's more in line with the spirit of the challenge. Can I make my initial 600 yard shots at my home range, or do they need to be in similar terrain to my MER shots?

Listened to the podcast and don’t disagree that mountain shooting across a canyon is different than a 600 yard poke on a rectangle. Am I understanding that to enter you must simulate your hunting element ie shoot in the mountains or is a range that is flat acceptable?

The location is up to you. Shooting your initial 600-yard shots at the range and your final two shots in the mountains is perfect.

Either is acceptable. I'll just ask everyone to post their gear and the conditions on the day they shoot.

I think we'll see trends of longer hits with calm, flat conditions and more misses with windy, mountainous conditions.

Yeah, I’m with Justin on this, you can get way way into the weeds with too many details in these competitions. If you just stick with the spirit of the challenge, which is testing your MER with a hunting rifle on different days with a Cold Bore, the rest is shooters choice—you can challenge yourself with angles, and winds all you want. Harder you make it the more you learn

We just have to keep it manageable so we can go through the posts without taking too much time to qualify people.
