That’s not how it works in Washington. Seattle and King county do our voting for us. The liberals in the Seattle metro outnumber pretty well all the conservatives in the entire state.
Oregon is similar with Portland and Salem.
That’s why the east sides of these states talk of splitting off and joining Idaho.

With Boise growing exponentially Idaho may soon follow suit.

That goes for a number of states. Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, etc... Metro populations vote for all and minimize the lifestyles and values of anyone outside the greater metropolitan area. It would be an interesting experiment for them to become city states, wholly dependent on surrounding "rural states" for ALL of their food security for example.

At the bottom of this page they include an email address to report any factual errors. I debated sending an email, but I only read a little of their site and found it to be nearly devoid of fact. So I guess I'll save the energy and skip sending an email they wont even read. It pains me to see people display such willful ignorance.

The exact reason for their push to introduce wolves, ban cat hunting, ban bear hunting, etc. Been saying it for years and here it is.

I had a retired IFG CO as a teacher in the late 80's . He flat out claimed the same exact thing. Everyone claimed he was an out of touch kook. I was really too young to understand where he was going, but later on, I connected all the dots and his thoughts are turning up right. These guys are playing the long game, while we are arguing about lighted nocks, and long range shooting. Although I would argue, are numbers are not nearly strong enough to overcome the urban centers and their migration out of their self created mess.

You're right, hunter numbers are small compared to the rest of the population. But when compared to the crazies that want this passed, I'm guessing it's pretty comparable. It takes organizations like "Howl for Wildlife"

If you are not a member there, sign up for their emails and they will notify you when you can do something. Usually it's a just clicking a link and sending an email to some representative.

These animal rights organizations have tried to ban all hunting in Oregon, bear hunting in California and Washington and have been trying to put limits on hunting more and more all over the country.

People do not understand incrementalism. The slippery slope. This is why I was so against a mandate for copper only, background checks for all ammo, taxes added specifically to ammo. All of these little things add up and contribute to, the frustrations of the people who would be normally be very vocal against these laws.

I hope that it stays status quo in WA.

Nevada could have this problem real soon. Vegas does the voting there. I'm glad Utah put hunting in their constitution. More states should try to preserve it now while there's still a chance.

It is difficult to understand the priorities of some anti-hunting groups. Is it to help wildlife or is it to end/alter the sport of hunting?

Ex. Whitetail deer overpopulate in a suburban area. They would be fine with the local government paying someone to shoot them. Against allowing hunters the opportunity.

Can someone find a way to fit hunters into the identity-based persecution, throw their own tactics back at them? I identify as a hunter. I have ancestral hunting traits that I need to exercise or else I feel marginalized.

It just seems like the science-based conservation approach is a little too malleable to be the hill we are willing to die on.

They already do that all over the country. Iowa City, IA, has had "sharpshooters" controlling urban deer herds for years. The libs over in that part of the state don't believe that us "fuds" can hit our targets without wounded deer wandering around the cities. In contrast, the somewhat less liberal Des Moines city leaders have supported urban bow hunts for many years now.
