The BC isn't quite as good as advertised when shooting to extreme ranges. I found them to be a 286g7 for waterlined dope to 1300y. However the advertised numbers work to 800. Just goes to show small variation in bc doesn't make a difference till you're long ways out.

The 112 Barnes is the sleekest option 6mm has. I've verified a 308g7 to 1100y with mv from 2910-3080. It fragmants very hard, prob not ideal for close range shots. I'll be testing the 109eldm and the 112mb this fall at 6cm and 6prc velocity from a lot of ranges on deer elk and Antelope. End of season I will do a large picture/data dump.

Thanks for the info.

This has been my biggest deer to date, body and rack. Approaching 300lbs on the hoof and a 7x9 that grossed 204".

485yds with a 6x284 with a 105 Berger.

I've been more than happy with using a .243/6mm variant although some are a little better than others. I have a Dasher that's fine for a couple hundred yds, or for doe, but I don't think I'd really want to shoot one 500 yds with a dasher.

You said 105gr Berger hybrids in the video. 🧐
Congrats on the buck.

Good call, At that time I believe I was using hybrids. I switched shortly after for shooting matches to 115 Dtacs for higher bc and less powder to burn and never looked back. I have a decent one on the wall I took a few years later with 115s out of a Creed

Congrats on a stud deer and nice looking rifle. Gives off an m2000 intervention vibe

Great bull! Oh how sweet it'd be to be able to hunt elk in rut with a rifle! Not in Montana.......

How deep did the wound cavity progress from frontal impact? Make it past the diaphragm wall to guts?
It went somewhere into the guts. I never recovered the bullet but the lungs were complete mush. It was a bloody mess inside and dark so I didn’t do a good job of getting pictures. Just got him quartered up and packed out solo.

Broke in the 6mm CM yesterday evening. Doe cull on a bean field. Shots were from 325-485. 7 does and one cull buck were killed. 2 were shot with a friends 7 mag. 6 were shot with the 6mm. 4 with the 103 ELDx and 2 with the 108 ELDm.

I didn't have time to do any autopsy pics but no deer ran more than 10 yards most were DRT. I couldn't tell any discernable difference between the 103 and 108s, but it was kind of difficult to tell which deer were which upon retreival in the dark, as we were in a rush to get them to the processor for donation. 3 exited on "shoulderish" shots.

I feel entirely confident with either load though. The 103 ELDx is running 3050 fps and the 108 ELDm is running 2915 fps. Gun is a Tikka rebarrelled with an Osprey (not a prefit), 1-7" finished at 19".

What velocity are you getting out of your setup?
...and what is your recipe? Brass, COL, powder/charge, and primer? I have a 25-284, and am curious where it stacks up to the 6-284. I'm running a 22" barrel with 134 ELDM over 54.5 grns of H1000 and should be around 2900 MV, but still need to chrono.
