I'm sure performance would be great, but the cost of Weatherby brass is significant, so cost of entry is steeper than other calibers. It's $65/20 for unprimed brass from what I can see on a quick search.Has anyone rebarrled a 257 Wby with a fast twist barrel and shot the heavy for caliber bullets?
In that case, dummy up a round with one of the heavies and order a fast twist barrel. 1:7 is probably better with added velocity from the wby, but you can calculate on the Berger website with their twist rate tool.I already have a 257 Wby and a pretty good stock pile of brass, thats why I was considering it
I believe a 7.5 is recommended by most of the smiths I’ve talked to for the fast cartridges in the 25s so they aren’t over spun but this is the internet, always do your own research for confirmation. In that case, dummy up a round with one of the heavies and order a fast twist barrel. 1:7 is probably better with added velocity from the wby, but you can calculate on the Berger website with their twist rate tool.
