Night 23.5.

.5 because circumstance has us checking the line nocturnal style.

I had a leg hold trap flipped over but not tripped. The set was worked over. I reset it with the pan closer to the dirt hole and added a chicken wing to the bottom of the whole under regular bait. Hopefully I get a return.

I’ll hit it again in the morning.

I'm slow over here. I wonder if its because we rounded everyone up or its just a dormant time.

I had a set that's been stolen twice. I made a new dirt hole closer to the pan and stuffed it deep.

Good time to move a few and try new spots and throw a few new baits and lures out.

Agreed, I've been using Hiawatha and Canine Force. Got the 2 foxes and the cat (not counting opossums and raccoons that hit the canine sets instead of the boxes and dogproofs).

I'm thinking to try peppermint over "smokey nuggets" in my dogproofs. I'm pretty sure the smokey nuggets are kitten chow and liquid smoke in a "brand".

Not sure which way to go on the dirt holes. The hole I stuffed a chicken wing flapper down didn't get hit last night.

Skunk based lures will pull critters in from a long ways a way. Hellfire or Nitro from trapper arts work great.

Try a skunk based lure a few feet off the ground near your set. They come to investigate that and then will smell your set. Something listed as a "call lure."

Pros choice by Russ Carmen is good. Don't get it on your hands!!

Canned jack makeral from the grocery store is good coon bait.

We don't have skunks here. Do you think it will still work? My boys will have a good time with the stinky jokes.
Yes. Don't put the lure on your trap, place it directly above it. A little goes a long ways. You'll still need to use bait though, lure just gets them closer to your trap so they smell the bait.
Good luck!

Figured.

Right now I take the bottle of Canine Force Lure and just shove it on some nearby vegetation and whatever sticks is what it is.
