Put 22 dog proofs out on 94 acres yesterday. First run today was 3 possums. Fairly cold for our area. May have slowed things up. I was hoping for more.

Been playing cat and mouse with a lynx the last few weeks. Was set up for fox and he walked over my snare, I dipped and he dodged, etc. so I said enough with it and built a walk-through snare pen for him.

Have another dozen and a half snares out and about along with a few marten boxes. I’m going to start setting a #4 footer at the base of each of my marten sets (offset) as I would have picked up a few more fox already this year had I done that from the start.

I'm setting my Marten line out on new years day. I had a lot of Fox and coyote visits under my boxes and picked up some snares to try and pick up a few that are checking out my Marten boxes.
Good luck on the lynx, hope to see a picture of it soon!

Night 10.

Looks like I lost a canine…or rear foot caught a big coon.

I’m leaning towards latter. Easier on the mind.

How many of you would reset this trap as “seasoned” versus move it?

I reset it.

Up to six possums and six coons after 5 trap nights. Rain for the 3rd day in a row. Ground is rotten for footholds. Need a week without rain.

Been a slow spell with the freezing and thawing conditions along with rain. Looks like our warm weather ends today. It sure is nice to be outside in the nice weather but I’m tired of raccoons getting in my cat sets. Picked up a beautiful cat in a snare this morning and had a raccoon plugging a good cat set
