I shot for the stars and put in for a LE tag, no go for me. I have enough points for a general tag but I'm waiting for a year when I have a buddy or 2 that is able to go with me.

Depends on the situation obviously. With the way 4 point applicants landed, special pool had over 3x better odds at the tag via PP and a little bump in odds with the random as well. Going into next year's draw with 5 points in standard draw isn't going to be a slam dunk either and special is going to cost a lot more.. I'm quite happy that I decided to apply in special w/ 4.

I drew a tag last year with 4 pts in the special as well. My post was definitely not meant to question anyone’s strategy, only to point out how the odds have greatly converged between reg and special and that the special doesn’t offer the big leg up that it used to in terms of odds. Congratulations and good luck this year to all that drew.

Be interesting to see how much the odds diverge next year with the big cost increase in special.

Starting the thread for the year so as people draw later this week I'll be constantly reminded how jealous and petty I am (assuming I don't draw). If I do actually draw I most definitely will not brag about it to those that didn't get a tag.....

Anyway, lets get the conversation going. Who expects to draw what? Who just can't wait to get their money back from WyFG? My wife will be happy when they refund my 3 grand.

I'd like to hurry about and find out the results so I can plan deer/antelope in Wyoming and California/Arizona deer. I wish we still got results early so I could better plan Colorado, Utah, and Nevada.
Nothing for me. I was in the special with no points for a LE tag, so no surprise.

Riddle me this, the updated draw odds report shows Issued tags are about 50% or less of the Quota.
Did they end up cutting tags due to the winter? The Unit we put in for jumped a full point this year.

You are correct. That is the reason for next years price increase to apply in the special.

I went for a LE tag, no dice for me. But a welcome refund is coming soon. Can't wait to see what odds show for general tag in 2024. Good luck to those who drew for this year!

More pointedly, so outfitter's clients can have better odds than the DIY guy who they suspect will be less likely to pay the premium. @ $2k I might tap out but I might keep at it and if I get drawn I can smile thinking about how it didn't go to a potential outfitter client.

I hear you and am right there with you. Might price me out, but may not. Won't decide till Jan. Also won't be going with an outfitter if I draw. IMO I don't see it working out the way the outfitters anticipate. There is an awful lot of diehard DIY hunters that will pony up money if it increases odds. Probably you and me included in that group.

Quota on the demand report is the quota for that hunt.
I forgot to add in the Special and Random, makes sense now.
Still disappointed, planned my season around this tag (after not drawing NM) and really don't have a backup plan now.
