Haha well I have to clarify for you. The rx4 is kuiu verde not Sitka sub alpine. I did “rattle can” anywhere on the bow that might have even a slight reflection. . The option site I had to almost completely repaint as it was too shiny for my liking. Same w the tight spot quiver.

Now I do have a freshie Rx5 ultra in Sitka subalpine I just determined to be a shooter so it will soon get the “old rattle can” treatment before it gets new strings, a canyon pounder, and a whisker biscuit!!

Also I will say the sevr has worked well for me. They do get less penetration and tear up targets. Practicing everyday w the same heads you shoot when it counts helps me.

I have posted this before as this buck was shot w a sevr at my mer of 54 yards.

Spray painting a bow is next level commitment

That is an awesome, heavy looking buck!

Rattle can upgrades is something that I’ve often thought would be cool, but just haven’t ever committed to do. I like seeing someone does it tho!

Final Tally for me:
3/5 with the compound after a minute at full draw
4/5 with the trad bow, but also a hard core trad flag for the miss.

Main takeaway here is that I have a good sense of what I can/can't do with both bows in a hunting scenario right now. And I actually was pretty good on my MER estimations (now that I know to brace up the core after a long hold at full draw).

Final day's shot.... also note the DIY rattle can camo job on my longbow.

Finished up at 60%. Not spectacular but not terrible. I don’t feel too bad about my Day 2 miss, if the SEVR would have been unlocked it might have just barely cut the line.

Good luck on that last arrow, and let us know after you check your bow. If it was an issue and you want to, you can restart the challenge. Either way you’re already qualified once you shoot that last arrow,

Sincerely,
your fellow humiliated Rokslider

Day 5 complete, aimed right side of virals and had the best shot yet, either I got lucky or my zero/tune really is off.

No need to repeat, that’s what I get for assuming my bow hadn’t changed since tuning it for a Barbary hunt in January. If this had been a hunt I wouldn’t get second chances, lesson learned!

Well ended up with 4/5 with 1/4 being borderline but would have killed a deer.

I did notice that I had one thing wrong with my strings so I ordered a new set that will be put on Sunday. I am interested to see what that will change.

Dont think I did too bad considering that archery has been on the back burner for the last 4 years. Now that I have a house and a place to shoot out the backdoor, I hope to change that.

good job man, and part of this whole thing is equipment testing well before season. Let us know if you end up tweaking. Thanks for coming out and good luck in the prize drawings.

you did great. Hoping me and the crew will have time to total up some actual stats from the CBC once it's over, like % hit, avg MER, and things like that. But I can tell you from experience, that 4/5 not too shabby. thanks Corb

My 6 yr. old son pulled my last arrow before I got to the target. After I explained to him what he’d done, he “put it back”.
Just curious if I need to do anything further?
I posted more details under the main thread.

that's an ambitious boy right there, we like that.

Not sure if Sam answered or not, but if you know where it hit, just "put it back" like the boys said. If not, just add another day to the challenge. That's what I had to do when my arrow fell out of the target.

Does anyone compile this data of hits/misses, etc?
Just addressed this in another post.

"No" but we'd like a volunterer to do that once the competition is over. I'm thinking stats like %hits on MER, avg MER, most popular bow, %trad vs. %compound and anything along those lines we could learn from

Yes, but I also was shooting a more challenging call with the compound (because I picked one up to expand my shot options, after all). Frontal shot at twenty is something I'd probably not take with a trad bow, even on an elk.
And I bet I could repeat this and go 5/5 with the compound now that I know what to change in my process.
