Braggin Board for Fishing!

The Kenai is on fire this year for Sockeyes. And these are just myself, wife, and son caught on rod & reel. Dip netting is an entire another story. Think we will make another trip on Monday or Tuesday before we try for Silvers at Valdez or Ship Creek.

That’s some of the funnest fishing I’ve done. When I fished reds on the Kenai a couple years ago, I used the same hooks I do for fishing Chinook down here. I’ve never had a Nooker straighten one of those hooks but it happened twice with sockeye. Great eating too.

Good stuff everyone (y) Got to ride along in my neighbors boat yesterday out of Depoe Bay Oregon. For anyone that doesn't know about Depoe its supposed to be the smallest bay in the world and for anyone that has gone out of the "hole" its interesting to say the least.
Good day fishing, all nice sized coho for this time or year around here. Probably got 15+ total for the 4 clipped we could keep - fun day.

Painful watching the record breaking counts from the lower 48. But glad to see some of the other guys on here getting on them!

This morning's trip took some of the sting out of being gone. Put together a nice inshore mixed bag by 9, was running back in to beat storms and decided to throw a few casts with a jerkbait for blues. Third cast, boom- nice tripletail. Not anywhere near where you'd expect, either.

First time having tripletail and I am shooketh- best tasting fish I've ever had. Like the love child between blue crab and grouper? Unreal. Super cool day.

Yup, I'm headed out to the islands for some WSB and halibut tomorrow August 1st.
I just got back from our WSB/Halibut trip. We nailed them. twenty WSB, limits plus the crew added two more, five legal halibut and various other ocean criters. The trip started out pretty tough, we got beat up pretty bad making our way to SBI. Two guys actually got thrown out of their bunks, one of them twice. It was still pretty bad this morning but we fished the leeward side of the island. Moving around produced zero WSB, but the five halibut. When the seas stared to calmed down went looking for the WSB. just at noon image000000-5.jpgwe put the first one of the deck. By1:15 we had our limits.

You darn hook and line guys catching all the fish! 😜

Had that happen a few years ago night fishing for crappie. Went to pull the metal floating minnow bucket out of the lake. Turned on the head lamp as went to open the lid and there was a cotton mouth coiled up on it. I’ve also been out in the middle of the lake and had a 5ft rattle snake swim up and try to board the boat. He got hit over the head before he made it though. Girlfriend had already climbed on top of the motor screaming haha.

I killed a rattler in a tree one time. Don’t know if it climbed (which they do when wet) or a hawk dropped him there. I almost walked right up on him.

Over 3 million late run past the counters as of two days ago. This year's sockeye run is OFF THE HOOK!:D

Early deer season I was climbing into my hang-on tree stand an hour before sunrise and was greeted by a black snake on the platform. Black rat snakes are not venomous but seeing one eye to eye will definitely wake you up.
