On Friday, the Alaskan Governor extended the mandatory 2 week quarantine for out of state people for another 2 weeks. I don't know of many people who can take off 2 weeks for a hunt and 2 more weeks for a quarantine.
Here is the latest NWT re-opening plan. Phase 2 mid to late June. Maybe in Phase 3 NR sheep hunting would resume.

Sounds like NWT is saying no outside visitors until a VACCINE. Crazy stuff. This sucks for so many people.

For what it’s worth, I talked to a guide friend of mine in Alaska. He said the 2 week quarantine was being ignored and not enforced and his fishing clients are coming in.
IDK if I would take it to that extreme, but I agree, that is total BS in my opinion, and business that don't follow the rules/guidelines mandated by the state should be penalized heavily.these people need to lose rights to hunting and fishing in AK for life. Putting others at risk is disgusting at best. That guide should lose his license and people not following the rules should be banned for life.

I almost find it comical that Alaska is taking such extreme measures. The place is so flippin remote that you only see people for a couple days. What exactly does staying in a hotel room for 2 weeks do? I would love to see what exactly a quarantine entails. The way I read it, you are to go to your hotel or lodging immediately. So if I am flying to my hunt location, does that satisfy my 2 week quarantine. If I had no plans of staying in a hotel, simply going from one airport to my final destination ( outfitter's camp/ lodge) is that okay?
Is a guy allowed to take an Uber to said lodge? If the state continues to stay locked down, people might as well just take their chances and lick a door knob laced with COVID. The whole state relies on tourism for their income. Whether it be cruises, hunting, fishing or sight seeing, that is a HUGE chunk of their income. I am glad AZ did not go to extreme measures like AK did. It's like people are ok with being forced into socialism. Common sense social distancing and some extra hygene measures will get us thru this. If you are one of the ones that fall into the HIGH risk of death categories, then maybe you should stay home and rely on the Gov't to keep you a float. The ones who are not a high risk should be free to go about how they want to.
I just ran a marathon in training for my alaska hunt. Just heard if you get off a plane there is a 2 week quarantine period. I'm hoping that is not in place in August.

Yup the Canadians will only let "essential" people drive through Canada. I know someone who flew here from the lower 48 and tried to drive out of AK through Canada with their adult child yesterday. Canadians would not let them in/through. Said the Parent that lived in the lower 48 was "non-essential" but the Adult Child that was moving from AK to the lower 48 could drive through alone. This was after many phone calls talking with the Canadians before embarking on the journey. They were told it would be ok. They had to turn around and drive back.Just announced, the US/Canada border closed for another 30 days.
