The flu just "went away"...hilarious, you know it didn't. The flu cases and deaths were rolled into covid, for profit.

The "experts": "Wear this mask, close down your business, avoid all of your friends and family, keep your kid isolated, keep your kids from their education, develop no natural immunities, tank your immune system so we can feed your more prescriptions, don't go to the gym or the grocery store to be healthy, just order fast food from home, and here take this shot, we'll give you a donut..now another...whoops that didn't work, now a booster."
Gotcha. Tens of thousands of doctors, nurses, techs, and administrators conspired to tell people they had Covid instead of the flu. On top of that, the flu suddenly made people lose their taste and smell. And it became exponentially more deadly. That makes way more sense than the flu disappearing because schools and restaurants closed down and people social distanced, masked, and started washing their hands.

All they gotta do is adjust the sensitivity of the Covid tests to fit the narrative. Oh wait. They already literally did that. But hey, trust the science.

Red herring...nobody said covid wasn't real. What I did say was that flu numbers were rolled into covid numbers, it's obvious.

Yeah, magically flu deaths dropped 98% because people washed their hands...sure bud.

https://www.cdc.gov/csels/dls/locs/...-Changes_CDC_RT-PCR_SARS-CoV-2_Testing_1.html

And I quote..."CDC encourages laboratories to consider adoption of a multiplexed method that can facilitate detection and differentiation of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses."

It's almost like the PCR test was telling folks that had the flu, they had COVID...because it was. Emergency authorization for the PCR was pulled in the first of the year because of it.

I wouldn’t bother reading it.

Just follow the advice of your medical provider.

My taste returned in a couple weeks. That was the worst part for me. Sadly, my neighbor didn’t follow his provider’s advice and passed away.

Recover soon.

Had it a few weeks ago and my wife told my BIL we had it.
He said it couldnt be, cause we would be dead.
Unreal what people think.

Recovering from the rona now after testing positive/having symptoms earlier this week. Wife and I both caught it after being vaccinated.... not real cool. Loss of taste is annoying and is the only sympton lingering, other than just felt tired and had some congestion.

With regards to the flu; I cannot say with authority what happened or "where it went." What I can say is that this was predicted early on due to mask wearing and distancing. I can also say that we (pre-hospital providers) aren't seeing the flu in any significant number. Every year there are significant flu outbreaks at skilled nursing facilities, board and care, assisted living, etc, and we haven't had any. We also see at least a facility or two with rotavirus outbreaks and haven't had any of those, either.

Did the flu evaporate because of masks? No. Did they make a difference? Well, if you know how the flu is spread the answer then you would know the answer.

There are 762 cases of myocarditis/pericarditis from 339 million doses.

Good for a .0002% chance or 1 in 500,000.
2007 study per American Journal of Epidemiology puts the incidence of Fatal Myocarditis at .46 per 100,000 per year.

.51 per 100,000 per year for men

10-22 total cases per 100,000 per year.

I am not a doctor. But not necessarily causal with the vaccine. Statistically, you’re going to have some people who present with something within the window of “after being vaccinated”.

I did my own risk assessment and chose to get vaccinated. My family got vaccinated as well. I believe that it was a rational decision based upon the information that I could find and consultations with my personal doctor, whose opinion I value.

I believe that I made a prudent choice, I believe that statistics bear that out. I do not believe that I, as a layman, should be directing or demanding that anyone else be required to follow my lead.

Because my oldest has asthma, we continued with remote schooling through the end of the last school year. We still had concerns about lack of socialization and educational impact for our kids.

Every decision has a cost and a risk.

I am not a shill or a sheep. I do not believe that people who have questions or concerns about the vaccine are idiots.

But I feel confident that the vaccine is not altering my DNA, infecting me with prions or carrying microchips that will allow the government to control me via radio transmissions through my fillings.

I am also taking Vitamin D because I’m Swedish and Scandinavians are commonly Vitamin D deficient. I am also taking Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Zinc and N-Acetyl Cysteine... not because I believe it’s a magic wand or perfect force field, but because it could provide some benefit and can’t hurt and only costs $0.28 per day.

I’m also listening to the things Grandma used to say. “Eat right. Get adequate sleep. Wash and sanitize hands. Exercise.” Again, no guarantees, but it can only be beneficial.

A guy that I hunt with is a triathlete who got COVID last Thanksgiving. He’s just getting back to being able to jog short distances.

A friend who’s a Marine had a moderate case, but still can’t smell or taste anything. He says he might as well just eat Alpo and save some money and it sucks worse than you might think.

You don’t have to die to have it suck bad.

My opinion. YMMV: There’s no seeming rhyme or reason evident as to who will have little to no symptoms and who will be impacted more. No one can give you a definitive answer. No one has complete knowledge. Look at what you consider to be credible sources. Look at what you consider to be credible statistics and make the best choice you can for you and yours and live with that decision. But you may be wrong. I’m not suggesting that you shouldn’t explain your reasoning... but maybe we, as Americans, can recognize that others have the right to form their own contrary opinions and hold their own beliefs without screaming at each other.

Hope all is well with you and yours. Short bloodtrails.

Irony is that the only reason I got tested is because my youngest boy (6) has a cough... he was a little weary about the test so I did it. He came back negative and me positive. I was losing my taste earlier so figuring there was a chance we all got it.

This thread just shows people slept through statistics class. And that people can’t do their own risk assessment. They have to have someone else tell them what to do.

Actually read it anyhow since I won't be going out for beers and burgers tonight! You're right, most of these thread devolve into "here are my credentials," and "I'm going to try and embarrass you to show that I'm right."

But there were a few useful things in here from others that went through it. I've got a doctor appointment booked and going to start hammering on all the common stuff (vitamin D, zinc). Suppose I'll have to lock up the beer fridge for a few days, too!

My sense of smell came back with a vengeance this morning......but just like so many times before since December when it went away originally, it will be completely gone again any second now.

So I finally got the Rona. While traveling for work no less and am now stuck in a hotel room to quarantine for the next ten days before I can travel home.

Anyways, I thought my allergies were acting up yesterday so I took some antihistamine and it cleared up my headache, cough and runny nose after a few hours so I figured I was good. Due to flying and where I am, my wife told me I should get tested just to be sure before I fly home so I figured why not, I’ll head over to the nearest clinic and knock one out. About an hour later a woman in damn near a full hazmat suit walks into my room and tells me I’m positive for Covid.

So for you guys that have had this, what was your experience with it? Mild, bad, horrible? Luckily everything seems pretty mild for me.
Well I have the antibodies and didn't even know I had anything so I can't say much.

Let's see here.......get the vaccine and have a small chance of suffering permanent issues........or get the virus and have a small chance of suffering permanent issues. This is exactly why these decisions are no one's business except our own. There could be a 100% chance of suffering permanent issues from the virus, and the choice is STILL ours.
While I agree with choice, I haven’t seen any studies or effects of permanent issues AFTER getting the vaccine. Do you have anything you can link?
A couple of my buddies in the ER with me chose not to get the vaccine. One has COVID now and is doing ok. His wife on the other hand is not. I support his choice. I chose to get the vaccines because I did see the side effects of those that got COVID and never fully recovered.
Having a choice is proper but like I said, I haven’t seen any negative side effects from the vaccine outside the 48 hours like any vaccine nor have I seen a scientific article/study on it.

Performing an honest risk assessment is key. I work in a setting where I’m not exposed to a bunch of new people in close proximity every day, don’t interact with higher-risk folks regularly, and have none of the co-factors that indicate you’ll have a bad time with the vid. So, I’ve decided my risk of serious disease is pretty low, but not zero.

With that in mind, I don’t think it’s obvious that I should take an experimental vaccine that appears to allow the virus to spread anyway. That’s a replay of Mareks Disease in poultry, and not something we should create…

I’m not saying the vaccines aren’t effective at reducing symptoms or that they will cause long-term individual health problems that exceed those of the pathogen, or even that providing a landscape for the virus that selects for highly contagious traits will continue to evolve more highly contagious strains (like a structured gain-of-function laboratory trial). Wouldn’t dare.

I will say that we know more today than yesterday, and that Sir Francis Bacon’s scientific method says you have to show your work.

Give the vaccine a few revisions, time in the field, return liability to the manufacturer, and I’ll sign up. But if I say that out loud, I get lumped in with the rabid trump supporters (no), called an “anti-vaxer” (have records to demonstrate otherwise), anti-science (ditto), and selfish. Sigh.

But to the topic, had it in December. Felt crappy, couldn’t smell or taste for a week. Took a few prednisone, felt way better. Was already on 2000 iu/day of D3, zinc, and turmeric. 31 y/o, 6’1”, 185 lbs.
