We tested the Reaper today with twenty rapid shots from a 16" 6.5 PRC, 18" 300 PRC, and 40 shots from a 20" 300 RUM. With the first two rifles, the suppressor had zero issues. With the 300 RUM, the suppressor has zero issues, but the aluminum end cap started to bow and got so hot it changed from black to bronze in color.(see Pics) The Proof carbon barrel got so hot that it began to peel. The suppressor was excellent. We screwed a new encap on it, and it was good to go.

The aluminum endcap changed from black to bronze due to the intense heat.

First time hearing about the reaper, so forgive me if this is common knowledge

What's the difference in use case for this compared to the OG?

It was mentioned in other threads. They are making it as a crowd pleaser based on folks typically wanting ~6" muzzle forward cans with the associated performance on paper.

Meaning this can will be quitter than the OG and lighter than the OG a bit but its longer and will probably have a more typical tone. Their stance is in reality when a ~6" muzzle forward can and an OTB can like the OG are shot side by side in terrain folks prefer OTB cans like the OG despite it being louder on paper.

So if I wanted a short but hearing safe suppressor for hunting with something like a 6 creed or 243 ackley the OG is still the better option

If length and tone are your main criteria yes.

Basically the OG is what Form/Ryan/others wanted, the Reaper is what is popular in the market and they have capacity to make cans so may as well build a robust ~6" can and gain more market awareness for unknown suppressors is the jist I gathered.

I think so, yes. But I would say, “for hunting with any rifle .30 caliber and below.” The more I have learned about hearing protection, suppressors, and shot suppressed rifles, the more I like the OG.

If it was possible to exchange my Scythe Ti for a Reaper, I would do it in a heartbeat, but I would rather have an OG than any of the 6” forward options.

This looks like a real winner to me. Seems like this one is much quieter than the OG by several dcb's. Like someone said, a quieter scythe that actually holds together and works. Just curious......what about making this model with a 3" OTB reflex?

Adding a 3" reflex mount option (or a totally new suppressor that is 3+6) seems like it would make the Reaper a better version of the AB Raptor 8 as well as the Scythe Ti (and a whole bunch of other suppressors).

I have to assume that 3D printing and a good design shop give a company the ability to make suppressors that could theoretically meet or exceed any suppressor on the market.

The reaper's db readings were already a little more quiet than the AB8. I can only imagine that if the Reaper is already that quiet, the reflex would add to that.

This is more inline with what I wanted. However adding a 3” reflex to this would be cool too for short barreled magnums.

Where did you find dBA ratings for the AB Raptor 8 (with or without reflex)? They are not listed on AB's website. AB would not tell me them when I called to ask. And they are not on the TBAC Summit or Pew Science.

I floated this idea to Jake yesterday at the UM store. He seemed intrigued at the idea but may have just been being polite haha.

Sounds like the destructive testing on this can will be uhh...rather intense. There's a hint on the UM instagram story right now.
