What's the most expensive thing you've lost while outdoors?

After loosing some pricey sunglasses in the woods about 5 years ago I only buy cheap <$ 15 glasses. Have not lost a pair since then. So my wife bought me a pair of Oakleys due to my good behavior for our anniversary Aug 10.... I lost them on a scouting trip two weeks later....

Funny how that works. If it's a cheap POS you'll never lose it!

I dropped my Rino 530 this year bushwacking through some brush and deep snow in Wyoming. I backtracked back to a rocky creek crossing I thought It might have fallen out in and it was not there. I DID find it a few more yards down a ways though.

Really considering one of these:

Lost my rangefinder this year during archery season after shooting my elk. It was at sunset, so backed out and went back in the following morning and found it where I shot from - thankfully it was sitting on top of 1' of snow and easily visible.
I've lost elk calls, reeds and gloves. Apparently I get too caught up in the hunt/stalk to remember that I've put something down.

Wedding ring, that happened to also be my father's ring. I'll be heading back to where I think I lost it once the snow melts...

I had this happen a few years ago. Buddy shot a bull at last light and i helped him clean it. After we were done I cleaned my hands off with some snow near by and flicked my hands dry. Didn't realize it was gone until my wife asked me about it...luckily she was understanding. I had my gps on and I saved my track. I went back that next summer with my gps and a rented metal detector. It only took me two passes before I found it.

Last year while my shotgun was in the shop a friend of mine let me borrow his Supper X3. When I was crossing the river after a bird I got pined into a log jam by all the ice in the river. As he and another buddy came to pull me out he said "Throw the gun" I said No. It got a little scary for a min and I threw the gun. It made it to the bank and hit a patch of ice and slid right back into the river. One of the worst feelings was watching it sink. We looked down river for it but never found it.

Did this too....normally don't wear rings as I was always afraid this would happen. One year wife made me wear it, spent the whole week worrying about it. Snowed day before we packed up and left. Cold, wet hands led to the ring falling off...searched and couldn't find it. Went back in spring with a metal detector and snow was still too deep to get back there. Went back a month later, no snow but someone was camped right in the spot. Talked to the guy and his wife about it, turns out they camped there the week before and she found it and took it home with her. I described it to her satisfaction, gave her postage money, she shipped it back to me. Amazing thing was they were within an hour of leaving the area, almost missed them. I guess it was meant to be that I got it back. Wife doesn't mind when I leave the ring home now.....

Ive had one of these for a year and a half. Ive used it twice and found it to be more of a hindrance than a help. I like the neoprene covers with a clip. PM me and ill give you mine. Maybe you will find a use for it.

Not something I lost but...this past September I found an Iphone 5 way off trail at 11,500 ft. in the South San Juan Wilderness. The battery was dead but it was in an otter box case so I thought it might be okay. I brought it back home to the east coast, charged it up, and was able to send it back to the owner. He ended up sending me a $100 Cabelas gift card to thank me.
