I missed most of bow season and we have late doe firearm closing Sunday eve. Then I have till 1/31 to archery hunt doe. Hope to put up some venison. Public woods are not very crowded in late January.....

To hopefully have more time in the woods this year and less at the restaurant. As always, keeping the freezer full or deer. Elk, turkey and trout. Hopefully I can draw an antelope tag, continue killing plenty of critters with the trad gear and staying fit and healthy god willing

To finally make the trip out west and go elk hunting. Been thinking about it for the last two years but it was difficult to get the time with young kids.

For me it starts with fitness, preparation, and skill set. Everything else is out of my control. I can't control tag draws but I can put myself in the best position to be successful with whatever tags I do draw. Putting miles on my boots this spring and summer scouting and hitting the gym. I want my body to be in top physical shape and ready for the hunt. I picked up a range membership and shoot my bow as often as possible. My archery abilities will be ready when a shot presents itself. Getting out hunting every chance available is my other goal. This will be my first season having children so there will be a learning curve on when I will be able to get out in the field and want to make the best of each opportunity I get. Also want to take more photos and get better at writing in my hunting journal. Want to have my experiences on paper for my children and hopefully great grandchildren someday.

Genuinely want to hunt less in 2019

Get more family on animals and no grip and grind with dead heads.

3 or 4 hunts, maybe all up 5 weeks in a bush.

In order of importance:
Help my brother fill his spring bear tag on Kodiak.
Hunt whatever tags we draw.
Get my 8 year old daughter her first grizzly.
Get my 10 year old daughter her first sheep.
Get my brother in law his first sheep.
Help a few buddies fill their tags.
Fill my Eklutna Lake archery brown bear tag.
Get a sheep myself.

I am REALLY hoping to find a way, somehow, to actually go after sheep and grizzly this fall!!!!!!

I have been a fulltime , 24/7 , caretaker for my dear wife for the last two years.
She has ALS with Frontal Lobe Dementia.
I have been living vicariously through you folks and the great stories that you share!!

Thanks to all of you for keeping my spirits up and my hopes alive!!

Bob

Go 3 for 3 P&Y in MT (elk, deer, antelope) including my first P&Y muley and a 300+ bull. If I get lucky and draw a moose, goat, or sheep though my focus will be a P&Y of that species.

I'm burning my few points in WY to draw my first bull elk after starting hunting 6 years ago. I'll be trying my resident luck in New Mexico again but lady luck here seems against me for this one remaining goal. I started back then to learn how to hunt so that I can teach my boys when they grow older (now) and harvest a representative muley buck , bull elk, and oryx. Only the elk remains... :)
