^^^ so much free information on YouTube.I feel most of the advice on this thread is pretty bad. Maybe just me.
Watch Ken Berry MD videos on youtube. Follow it up with Eric Berg and Sten Ekberg. The standard American diet was created to make food businesses money. Switch to low carb as soon as possible. Low fat is part of the standard American diet. If you feel you need alcohol, go with spirits that have no carbs.
Watch Jordan Peterson and Mikhaila Peterson videos to see how many problems the standard American can create. Note: you have to be willing to forget all that you’ve learned.
Diet is important, but more important is making sure you train. Losing weight isn’t equivalent to getting in physical condition to handle physical activities. Sure, carrying less weight will help, but if you aren’t in physical shape, it will only take you so far.
Good luck.
What!? That's even tastier after a few beers!Nobody gets buzzed up and thinks grilled salmon and asparagus would be delicious.
Worked with a gal that did the fitness, bodybuilding competitions, got real good at it.Wife does fitness/bikini competitions so isee and help her with food prep.
Start by going online and figuring out how many calories your body needs daily to maintain your current weight. Then, figure out how many pounds you want to lose. Say it's 15 pounds. Each pound is equal to 3500 calories. So if you know your daily calorie needs, say it's 2500. If you eat 2000, every seven days you'll be less 3500 calories, which is one pound. Add in exercise, and it might go to 1.5-2 pounds weekly, which is doable.
For diet, proteins should be leans. Lean burger, chicken, and shrimp. Shrimp is the leanest. Measure out the protein on a digital scale and measure the chosen carb (usually enriched white rice, but it can be any complex carb) add in vegetables. Split this into 4-5 meals daily.
No alcohol
No added sugar
No added fats
1/2-3/4 ounce water per pound of body weight daily.
10 weeks with daily exercise should easily see 15 pounds. Probably more with less water retention from no alcohol and sugar.
Breakfast is probably the most important. It not only gets the metabolism going for the day, but it triggers the digestion process to make your body need food more often.
For breakfast, quickoats, sweeten with 0 sugar maple syrup and 1/3 egg whites.

That's some good eating right there. I could fry up a pound of that bacon and fry 6 of the eggs in the bacon grease eat that and still have room for one those steaks
I'll speak on a few different things here. Being a former college wrestler I've spent the majority of my life managing weight. From what you've said the biggest issue you have is not eating enough calories per day (ironic I know), but your body is getting such little sustenance that it's in starvation mode and will hold onto any food you eat storing it because it doesn't know when you'll eat again. Crash diets are not the way to go any should really never fall below 1900 calories a day minimum. You need to eat something in the morning to kick start your metabolism, I know you say you starve but it's a good mental toughness exercise for a few weeks until you get acclimated. Dump the lunchtime soup and eat some vegetables, 5-8 ounces of protein, maybe some goods fats like an avocado and nuts. Snacks throughout the day could be low sugar protein bars, bell peppers and hummus, fruits, etc. Dinner keep on eating the spinach, green beans, protein (use a little bit of olive oil). The biggest misconception for losing weight is that if you go into a massive deficit to lose weight, figure out your maintenance calories and shave off 250-500 calories per day from it and add in a half hour to an hour of walking or hiking.Anyone have any good wieght loss meal ideas. I am the heaviest I have ever been and an elk hunt for my son in 3 months. I have been a 32x32 pant size since junior year of high school (21yrs ago). That allowed me room for thick thermals and still wore a belt. Currently still wear the 32x32 but thermals wouldn't even begin fit underneath and don't need a belt.
I need to lose 15lbs to get back to my original wieght. I have had to lose 6-8lbs several times and it isn't bad. But this one is going to suck. Here is what I have done before. But dang it gets old. I keep it at 1000cal/day. It works good. But looking for some other ideas
1. I never eat breakfast but drink a big cup of coffee. If I eat anything at all for breakfast I am STARVING all day. If I skip I can easily make it to lunch without eating.
2. Lunch consists of a Progressive light soup with a half of a can of green beans mixed in, a piece of fruit like an apple, pear or orange and a few pieces of a fresh veggie like cucumber, carrots or bell peppers
3. Supper is a can of green beans or spinach with enough broiled chicken breast, grilled deer or something like that to get me to 1000cal

Well I have concluded that all the advice on this thread is bad. Not really, just that most everyone has a different opinion. One thing I do know is that everyone's body is different. I am like McKolorado in the fact that I can eat until I am about to burst, and like the feeling. I have ate super clean without drinking a soda for over six months before and the craving to drink a soda and eat until I burst never goes away. I crave it as much 6 months later just as much as I do on day one.
I usually wiegh when I get up in the mornings. It has been around 175lbs for a while. On the 4th of July I ate an enormous amount. I had to step on the scale before bed just to see how much it said. It said 182lbs. I was back down to the 175lbs within 3 days. I started this on Monday the 10th and the scale said 171lbs this morning. So we are getting there.
Man you really got the stuff rolling in this thread I do want to reiterate that I am happy to offer more thoughts/help from my perspective but only via private message, because YES, there's a TON of terrible advice in this thread. Just read through the thread and you see contradiction after contradiction not to mention some good advice but only if you're planning to enter into a physique type of competition . I'll mention too that I haven't counted a calorie (praise God) in more than 3 years. Counting calories is probably one of the most mind numbingly painful things ever... especially when you do it, see some success and then find yourself hungry all the freaking time.Well I have concluded that all the advice on this thread is bad.
