As the snow lines recede and trails to hunting areas start to open up I started getting out all my gear from last year.
There's things I want to upgrade for functionality or weight loss. So I started weighing out tents, tripods, backpacks. I can shave ounces and maybe pounds if I really want to with the expenditure of money.
However before I buy lighter gear to save ounces I personally need to lose 20lbs that I gained since last season.

And it's going to be way cheaper than a new tripod or tent.
Remember that the next time the gear fairy visits you.

I heard a guy say he got new & expensive clothes + had them tailored when he lost the weight he wanted as a way of keeping himself accountable. I always thought that was smart.

Yep. The cost of tailoring is pretty inexpensive. My shirts are ~$15 and pants are ~$20 (could be more or less on pants depending on what all is done).

Every year I get fatter and have to lose wieght to fit into my hunting clothes. Great motivator as it's way to expensive to buy entire new setup.

I like it when the gear fairy visits my house. I just don’t have the money to support him so I only get visits once in a while.

This is the only reason I'm not 300 lbs. I refuse to buy all new hunting clothes so have to fluctuate in the size ranges I already own.

i'll be saving a lot of money this year. At worst I'll pickup a used tree stand, but otherwise time and my regular tags are my only hunting expense this year
