I don't see why a mini tikka action couldn't be made to use full length action stocks and accessories... isn't that what a T1x essentially is?
Barrel shank diameter is likely going to be the issue with how the T1x does it. But, if one is fine with Tikka Prefits not being compatible, yes, a similar approach could be used (I think).

Personally, I think an extra long barrel tenon and keeping the action itself the same length would be the way to go. You keep the same length for scope mounts, keep the same footprint, but get a shorter bolt and bolt throw along with a shorter overall length for the same barrel length.

I would consider one in that configuration. Of course some people might prefer having prefits and not care so much about custom stock inlets.

What specifically are you looking for in identifying the matriarch? I haven't hunted does, but this behavior is extremely interesting, and would appreciate any detail you can share.

In most cases it's the biggest, oldest doe who is clearly leading the group even if she isn't always out in front. Often if button bucks are in the group they will pop out in a field from a staging area well ahead of the others. The dominant doe will appear most alert and cautious without appearing uncertain like subordinate does. If a deer follows your entry trail to the base of your tree and starts stomping and blowing at you, it's usually an older lead doe.
