By my count the Tikka T3x action has three threaded pin locations to the aft and two to the fore that are tapped completely to the interior of the chamber. My question is for those using the UM rings, do the rings completely cover the exposed pin locations due to their width or are some exposed and prone to debris collection and potentially failing into the chamber? Is there an alternative to the 6-48 (?) plastic plugs (long gone) the rifle came with and if so what did you end up going with. Thanks for the help.

Depending on where you mount them you may have partially exposed hole. Paint pen or factory plugs are what I use. No issues.

2 of the 5 holes are visible with UM rings on my rifles w/ Maven Rs1.2 and Nightforce ATACR.

I have the front ring pegged the same for both scopes so the muzzle forward hole is covered, and the other one is out. On the rear rings for those scopes the rearmost hole is exposed on the ATACR and visa versa on the Maven.

My 223 came to me with the black plastic plugs removed and the holes wide open so I installed these:

They work OK. I used loctite because they aren't that tight like the black plugs and I saw a liability for them screwing themselves down onto the bolt if left loose. I'd rather have a hex head version, but I didn't put the effort into looking. I'd also rather have the black plastic plugs that came with it than the fix.
