Damn, there’s been so much about the election lately it’s stuck in my brain- I read the OP and couldn’t figure out what the whitetail rut and kids birthdays had to do with politics, thinking to myself- “get to the point already”

For an actual response- enjoy the parties while they’re young enough to have them.

Don't pro-create in January or February and DEFINITELY don't get married in October or November. Problem solved. I have numerous friends and a father who made one of these mistakes.

I don’t think there’s a better way than a two party system. I wish there was but, all I see is the most money wins under any other system. Granted, that’s a large determining factor under a two party system. But, it certainly hasn’t applied in presidential races.

What I do think is term limits for the house. I used to be against them because as voters, we already had term limits if voters were responsible. However, time has shown that regional and state elections simply don’t get the turnout.

So, I’m all for term limits on all public offices except sheriffs. Sheriffs tend to be held to the fire by their constituents. So, local citizens know if they deserve to continue or not.
Not sure politics has anything to do with Op's issue.....

Parties on Sundays. Hunt non-rut times. Have only one party. Plenty of options.

Also, I’m speaking from experience here too…just skip your kid’s party and go hunt instead one year. You’ll figure out which one really matters more.

Wow! I feel for you. It can feel like a treadmill and also become stressful.

I was more agreeable to a 2 party system than my wife. I however think I got lucky. She said one party was the way to go and if someone didn't like it, they could lobby for something else. With her it was a waste of time though. 1 party, kids and adults and that was that.

We occasionally had two parties when the kids were in late grade school/early jr high. We would have a combo kids and adults party and then a separate kid's one usually at some kind of entertainment place. When the kids got older they prefered to just have a family party which was always low key, good food, and fun with the family.

And thankfully 2 of the 3 didn't interfere with hunting including spring turkey. The other was a fall birthday (planned very carefully) but didn't interfere with the WI or IL bow opener so it was good. She preferred a spring delivery for various reasons so I never really had to negotiate or lobby for dates that would benefit me for hunting.

Me on the other hand, I would have had at least 2 parties, more if I could. But that's coming from someone who had a few birthdays forgotten and a few that would have been better if they were.

As a father of 4 I’ve raised each of my kids (now ages 11-17) to be people who I and other adults can enjoy being around. I never fostered silly, obnoxious behavior and they never learned it. When other people’s kids come to our house, which is quite frequently, they seem to adapt pretty quickly.

We always have something available to do that’s engaging enough to interest the wildest brats that come over, none of which involves electronics or screaming, or any facet of popular culture. Think baby animals, campfires, airsoft wars, outdoor forts, woodworking projects, baking, archery, etc. it helps to do life on some acreage!

Picture 5-6 year old kids nailing together and painting birdhouse kits I’d previously made while dads and the older generation look on, sipping beers, and offering occasional assistance. Moms are hanging out on the deck chatting and sipping wine. Older kids are sitting around a campfire nearby doing their thing.

Now that we have kids in high school and middle school, our kids host team dinners for their sports teams and the parents come over and we all enjoy each other’s company.

No need for 2 parties.

Both my parents and my wife's parents are divorced. When we still lived back in Wisconsin we use to do multiple birthday parties, numerous Christmas parties. One year I said piss on it and invited everyone to one birthday party, ooh, it didn't really go over well the first time, or the second, but by the third everyone just got use to it, it they didn't come.

Personally, I'd do a party starting around noon on Saturday or Sunday that lasts all day. Food, snacks, games, football game on in the background, and just keep pumping food out all afternoon as long as people stay, have endless amounts of fun little games to play, lots of kids have a couple kids specific games or fun crafts, make it a all afternoon event, come for some, come for all of it.

One party. Reduces stress and increases enjoyment. The people that want to be at the party will be at the party. Mom would get mad at my brother and I for being late or not there for Thanksgiving dinner. Deer rifle season in Wisconsin. Last 9 days. One year I told her if she had supper instead of dinner. We would be there. Starting the next year, it was at supper time.

You want more time to hunt rut. Years ago a few of us coworkers had the same issue. One man told us. About a week before rut. He would pester his wife constantly in the bedroom. She was happy to give him extra hunting time. Worked for me.

Still married after 46 years, two adult children and four grandchildren.

One birthday party is plenty - if the other relatives don’t want to come they don’t have to.

The birthday party trends on Tik-Dork or Facebroke or Xtra Dumb are pretty weird - we were happy with one party at the dining room table, a home made cake and ice cream. Our new daughter in law was asking about where to rent a space, and which photographer to hire for a birthday party - I had to walk away and my wife says I’m not allowed to say a single word about how stupid it is, or the idiotic trend, or how we did it in our day, or that she should get off her ass and make a cake herself. Lol

The party is for the kid. Ask the kid what they want. Do a single party how theyd like if its agreeable. People don't have to come. Stop trying to please everyone.

Giving anybody options is your first mistake.

Im my opinion these party things get out of control. Go to a park all sounds nice, then your held hostage while you watch some kid open 38 presents.

First rule of kid birthday parties- small gathering with family? Fine, open the presents. Party with a bunch of kids? No way, open that crap later. No good can come from one kid getting a bunch of new stuff in front of a bunch of other kids. If the invitation says “no gifts needed”, don’t effing bring one.
