The point Creep is ridiculous

So, you think most of these folks are running a strategy to accumulate points by applying for the impossible (or just buying the point), and then hunting OTC?
That’s exactly what I’ve done for over 30 + years in Colorado.

Collect PPs and use them when I have enough to draw a good tag.

Hunt otc the off years.

I’ve drawn some dandy LE units over the years too

Something Oregon is doing that I think a lot of states would benefit from is they are offering Preference Points for turning in a poacher. That unit takes 20 points and you only have 5? Turn in some poachers and get more points
WA does the same. You can get up to 10 bonus points.

Of course, in WA the draws are basically a lottery, you simply get more tickets in the draw with more points. An extra 10 doesn't mean much. But the number of tags available has been declining steadily and drawing anything seems near impossible. I've got 20+ points for branch antlered bull in Eastern WA, quality elk and quality deer and have yet to draw any of them. But we can still hunt the general season for the "sasquatch on the unicorn" spike bull and 3-point or better mule deer.

I bet in those 18 years you never hunted elk either did you? (Sarcasm)

Everyone wants to hunt every year and hunt primo units. It just can’t work that way. Also starting in 2028 point creep will double.

There aren’t enough high point holders to offset all the low point holders when it comes to bonus tags. So most of the primo unit bonus tags will go to low point holders. Say hello to major point creep.
It is going to screw over a lot of hunters who have been building points when the new rules kick in in 2028. I know a bunch of hunters who will be looking to use their points before then.
