Ted Turner Dies at 87 RIP

Man I’m down with this post and your vibe for sure.

But I couldn’t help this: I would say I’m fairly certain Ted and David Alan Coe are most certainly not having a steak dinner together.
Are you calling David Alan Coe a vegetarian?!?!

I must yield and admit you’re right on that. I doubt they’re catching up on the other side of the pearly gates.

Both these gentlemen lived quite long lives. Even with all they accomplished, everything they did. Did they FEEL like they did enough when they died? Does any person? Makes you grateful for the seconds you have.

My god! He married someone with a different view point than you?! And was accepting of them? Woo wee, sounds like Ted was a little TOO ACCEPTING of people’s personal liberties and freedoms.

To the hell with CNN. We all know Ted created WCW wrestling and it was the pinnacle of cool. RIP big Ted, I’m sure you and ole David Alan Coe are digging into a steak dinner right now.
Dont care about the other stuff but DX riding in on a tank to take over wcw was the pinnacle of cool

He married a communist. Jane Fonda. Owned CNN.
Neither makes me think he had a good brain. RIP regardless.
To be fair he did divorce her and as for CNN, he sold the company 30 years ago. It was hardly then what it is now.

For most of us in the South, Ted is know for his ownership of the Atlanta Braves and building one of the greatest franchises of the 90's. That practically made him untouchable down here.

From my experiences of people I know who knew him (former ranch foreman for Bad River Ranch) and rancher who's land i hunt on that butts up to Turner's land, he was a good guy and treated people and land well. The Bad River Ranch was well maintained and the prairie looks beautiful when driving by it. It was a bummer to see him pass and may he RIP.

Not sure about the man but do know he was an important part of protecting and trying to increase the population of the American Bison.

From my understanding it was Jane who divorced him. His near-constant traveling to different ranches and businesses didn't jibe with her preferred lifestyle.

Ted Turner was the largest landowner in Nebraska. He has acquired significant amounts of land in the sandhills, and not without some controversy (Even though he purchased ranches from willing sellers). Most of the controversy was around the potential loss in property tax revenue in some sparsely populated counties and the impact it would have on the communities and landowners there. The concerns over what would happen to the land and how it will be managed once he's gone has been looming over that area for a while.

I lived through his presence and influence in Montana. I' m glad to see him gone. Shame he couldn't have taken Jane with him. None too soon.
Can I ask what your experience with him in Montana was like? I'm genuinely curious is all.

When Ted bought his land in SD the rancher I know was quite leery of the situation at first. He mentioned something about ranches in other states but I cannot remember what the issues were.

For the rancher whose land I hunt on, Ted treated him very well, Ted's ranch foreman and his crew came and helped build a windbreak for the rancher, and when the proper land survey was done the fence lines were not correct with my rancher having 240 acres of Ted's land. Ted then told my rancher that the lines would stay put and he could keep the 240 acres

Yeah. He still cozied up to a communist. 18 year old kids who had been drafted were crushed. My father was one of them. Freaking whore hung out and provided morale to the enemy. Good thing he bought some land and built a baseball team. Disgusting

Strong attachment to the environmental loonies. Things got really quiet when his Buffalo started dying from disease. He bought ranches but I don't remember any block management or work with the locals. Just another rich turkey we got stuck with.

I think he did right by most people in SD. Maybe he learned some things from experiences in other states. I do know though, Fonda was not liked one bit and she was refused service and told to get the hell out
