Rokslide hiking trip

i would say our truckload should hit the TH sat AM around 9 realistic time. brock will say earlier but my guess is 9 :chuckle:

Bullshit, air horn wake up call 6:30 sharp. Bus is leaving at 7! Haha just kidding. Yeah 9 sounds about right. Scott has to do his make up first ;-)

Actually Mike, the forest service can require a pass on any trailhead that has a crapper, and a picnic bench. There was a recent court case on whether they could require a pass at primitive trailheads. They lost the case which is why you've seen them pack some cheapy portajohns and benches into some areas so that they can require a pass. I've been ticketed in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness but was given a warning in the Chelan-Sawtooths. (What can I say? I'm forgetful). You just haven't been caught yet. Mikey will have my pass. I have a slightly expired one that looks almost identical. I'll give Hunt'nFish first dibs since I just PMed him about the pass. You can get passes at the TH for $5. The ticket is $100. I've forgotten about 20 other times to display the pass so you guys can do the math and decide for yourselves.

Last time I was at this trailhead there definitely wasn't a picnic bench or toilet but they could've changed it since then! I doubt it though as the parking area is surrounded by brush and has zero appeal for people to hangout. There's nice pullouts and trailheads not far from it both before and after so it'd be pretty redundant but you never know what the Circus will do!!!

9:00 sounds good, I am looking at my DeLorme map and it looks like I would take 207 to Lake Wenatchee and then take a right at Chiwawa River head up to Rock Creek Guard Station somewhere in that area. Is this correct

I just loaded 50 rounds for the 6.5-06 Ackley that need to be fireformed this weekend so I'll need some shooters! I'll also bring some of my hunting loads.

I have the fireform loads at 12 grains under my finished loads and they are shooting at 2850 fps.

The hunting loads are at 3165 fps. Both are 140 grain Bergers.

I just made myself laugh thinking about a non hunter showing up at this lake this weekend. Good luck to them if they do and I hope they like a little noise! Have fun boys.

Sounds good to me. I could always use some shooting tips from everyone. So if you need someone else to blow some ammo, I'm onboard. Especially if I'm not carrying it in. My experience in the military was accuracy by volume. That, and I was usually blowing stuff up while the trigger pullers did their job. I think my ratio of bow time to gun range time needs to tilt in the opposite direction.

I bet this is going to be the loudest basin in the wilderness all year... :)

Do you think we should go over on NWhikers.net and post a warning. "Don't go to Schaefer if you want a peaceful afternoon..... and really don't bring your kids."

You know that's not a bad idea... though you think it should be me or you? I know you have a ton more posts there than I do. :)

My biggest concern, although we are merely encouraging an enjoyable weekend for all, is that we might encourage theattention of multiple forest service personel, willing to issue multiple infractions, most of which I've probably never heard of nor can I afford.
