I’m in the process of putting together a setup for my son. It’s a Tikka T3x .243, with a Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40.

I’ll be mounting it in a Murphy Precision rail this measures .390.

Warnes sight suggests that the lows aren’t meant to accommodate an objective greater than 36mm. (1” tube”, Mountain techs)

So two questions…

Anyone running lows in a similar set up?

Would a slightly higher ring be beneficial for a youth shooter to maintain a more heads up shooting position?

I'm pretty sure the restriction is for clearance from the bottom of the ring like you would run into on a full length rail with an AR. But on a bolt action with a small rail, you will be fine if the bell hangs over the rail. This is my Credo HX 2.5-15x42 on mountain tech lows but in 30mm. The bell on your setup would be a 2ish mm lower on the 1" rings.

Can't comment on what works for kids.

I think you'll be fine with low's. I ran the that same scope on Burris 2 piece tactical bases (thinner than the pic rail you'll run) with Burris Tactical 6 hole rings, low, and had enough clearance on a Rem 700.
