All this talk of peace pipes, bikinis, firearms, and fire water has me second guessing whether I should go on this trip. Maybe I should reread my life insurance policy.

im looking for an excuse to go back up chatter creek. last time I was up there I got chased out by lightning (just before al the fires last year) that could be a good over nighter. see if we can make it to timothy meadows form there with the snow, then loop back around the top of lake flora. real dependent on snow levels there though. last june I couldn't even get to the bypass

I just noticed this post. Interesting route littlebuf, I've been watching a very similar route myself. I've been in through Chain and Doelle's through the Mormon Ladies lakes but the two I missed were Flora and Brigham. I've also been eyeing going to Knox Lake via Timothy Meadows. I've tried to figure a car to car starting off going up Whitepine to Grace Lakes, over to Charles, traverse to Knox, out via Flora Brigham and Chatter creek. That would make a nice 4 day trip.

Gerry, Well I'm coming from the PDX area and was gonna toss out a ride invite to anyone who wanted a ride.
I can get out of PDX just about anytime Friday, so I'm wide open. What time were you guys heading up the trail Friday? Never been up in the area over there but I'm sure I can follow the fresh track and tag up on top. Can I expect to see some Rokslide stickers in the truck windows at the trailhead?
Also, being from Oregon, what trail permits/passes will I need?

Looks like weather will be very nice, I'm coming pretty light w/ just a bivy bag to keep the skeeters off.
Looking forward to meeting you guys and checking out all the cool gear.

You will need a NW forest pass. (I think that's what it's called?)

I don't have a Rokslide sticker yet but I have a Hells Canyon Armory sticker in the middle of my back window!

I'm guessing Mike's truck will be there with his logo all over it.

I don't think you need a pass for this trailhead. I hunt my WA WDFW access pass from my mirror last year but have hiked into areas from different similar trailheads without doing even that and been OK.

You'll likely see my White Cummins with Hells Canyon Armory gear plastered all over it at the trailhead.

Myself, MLHSN, and CrabCreekHunter will plan on meeting you guys at the lake sometime saturday late morning. We're hiking in to a slightly different area friday afternoon and will be back to Schaefer either friday night or saturday morning!

Actually Mike, the forest service can require a pass on any trailhead that has a crapper, and a picnic bench. There was a recent court case on whether they could require a pass at primitive trailheads. They lost the case which is why you've seen them pack some cheapy portajohns and benches into some areas so that they can require a pass. I've been ticketed in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness but was given a warning in the Chelan-Sawtooths. (What can I say? I'm forgetful). You just haven't been caught yet. Mikey will have my pass. I have a slightly expired one that looks almost identical. I'll give Hunt'nFish first dibs since I just PMed him about the pass. You can get passes at the TH for $5. The ticket is $100. I've forgotten about 20 other times to display the pass so you guys can do the math and decide for yourselves.
