FWP and the game agencies of other western states should have been obligated to notify NR applicants of the dismal state of affairs at checkout. FWP definitely knew before April 1. I wish it weren't so and I feel for people spending money and traveling, but it's going to be ugly in a lot of places.

Very few game agencies set tag quotas before application deadlines.

It's no secret this winter has been long and hard, but it's not all doom and gloom people are trying to paint the picture of.

Good luck to everyone! We applied for Big game combo license with 3 in a party with 2 pp each. We planned to have had 4 in the party but one guy had to bail at the last second. We also have a youth application behind that. Hopefully it woks out. We drew in '21 and had a successful public land hunt. fingers crossed.

Good luck to all! Myself, my son and my sons’s buddy are in as a group for the Big Game Combo with 2pp’s each. I’m really interested to see the draw stats this year for 2 pp.

Going in with 0pp’s.
Planning for an Aug long weekend hiking in the elk area regardless.

I suppose whether they do and whether they should are two different questions. As for the magnitude, geographic distribution, and overall impact of winter mortality on 2023 hunter experience, I guess I don't really know, but I guess you don't either.

Utah and Wyoming have released estimated herd numbers and unit tag quotas.

Guess it depends on if you believe in the science the biologists use to set quotas. If you do, there's faith the tag numbers will close, if not it's unlikely any posts on this thread will change your mind.

I just looked at my FWP site and it says Pending. Does that mean they drew and were waiting on the results of the draw? Or do they switch status to pending once its the week of the draw?

It usually shows pending up until the draw is concluded. After that, you will see it in either the “successful applications” or unsuccessful applications” sections.
