Congrats on the effort. I really like Topo Chico. Depending on how I’m feeling I will also do decaf instant coffee or non caf tea with honey. Or just slam some water and wake up and seize the day instead of having a headache.

Coffee is my go to drink these days early morning and evening. I'm trying to get away from soda's too, so I've stopped buying it.

First congrats on quitting the alcohol. It's one of the best decisions and things I ever did along with quitting smoking. I have been off smokes for 13 years and alcohol just over 2 years. It gets substantially easier as time goes on.

It takes a strong will and that is what I remind myself when I'm around others and friends even at the deer lease where drinking is abound. I prefer coffee sweetened with honey and will drink plenty of water and some of the Lipton green Tea even.

I don't miss it at all especially the feeling of getting up early that next morning after having sat around the campfire telling lies with everyone getting sauced the night before. I just enjoy looking at their faces the next morning as they are dragging ass trying to get moving now lol.

Lastly you may encounter resistance or catch flak from "friend's" and acquaintances for not partaking but remember that's only because they are too weak to do without it and feel the need to throw shit at you over it because you aren't.

Ginger beer. I was a Moscow mule fan at one time, so sometimes I still drink one of these plain. Maybe a shot of lime juice for a bit closer flavor. Should help with digestion

If it’s later in the evening or I want something hot, MTN Ops Slumber Apple Cider. Good evening drink.

Flavored soda water like LaCroix, Bubly, or even home carbonated from a Soda stream. It's a good stand-in for beer, especially cracking open a cold can on a hot day.

I think a glass or two of whole milk is a good nightcap, as someone else suggested.

Athletic brewing company makes an outstanding NA. They make a tasty full body beer. I have gotten to the point that I prefer them to a real beer 97% of the time. I like the hazy and IPA my wife drinks the golden dawn.

Same here. I was skeptical, then tried a few and prefer them to regular beer most of the time.

I drink Pero and celestial seasonings tea. I will also drink NA Heineken, Corona, and my new favorite is a Blue Moon Belgium with a little orange. My other downfall is zero Dr. Pepper and those dang white monster energy drinks.

I dont like to drink either caffeine or sugar in the evening, also not a fan of artificial sweeteners.

I enjoy various "hop water" products. Its basically a sparkling water with hops for flavor. Its not a beer like flavor. Just something more interesting than water with no alcohol, caffeine, sugar, artificial sweeteners, and its more dry that sweet. Lagunitas Hoppy Refresher is a good one that seems widely available nationwide, Sierra Nevada makes one as well. Lots of other local options where I am but those two seem available nationally.

I have not had alcohol since sometime late summer 2021 and I enjoy these far more than soda or other sweet beverages.
I think the hop waters are the best NA drinks. And you’ll get incredibly hydrated.

I really like Topo Chico

Another vote for glass bottle Topo Chico

FYSA:

Have tried hot tea so far but what else do people recommend?

Congrats on quitting, alcohol is the dumbest drug out there. Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet, but try kombucha. Fizzy, tasty, probiotic, fraction of the sugar in most canned drinks.

An "after dinner drink" is like an after dinner cigarette. IMO, when you go to beak a habit, you make a clean break (which for a time, will not be comfortable). Before long though, you'll lose your desire for the drink and the after dinner ritual. People say it's not easy but it actually is. Doing less is always easier than doing more. Not wanting to let go suggests you'll fall of the wagon soon enough.

Maybe replace the after dinner ritual with 20 minutes on the heavy bag out in the garage.

Congrats on quitting! I’ll second the recommendation for Mtn Ops Slumber if you want something hot. They have it in hot cocoa and apple cider. Really helps you wind down and relax.
