Years ago I picked up a new RA .243 on sale for $275. Like you said, the stock is junk but man that gun shoots awesome. I always thought if they would just put a little more money in the stock they would have an excellent product. We’ll see, maybe that’s what they finally did.
I like the scope you put on that rifle…..I would probably go that same route if I got another one…..

no tax on firearms and ammo. I want to live there.Got to handle a 5.56 G2 at a local shop. He had a few of the “go wild“ camo models. Those have a 22” barrel. That damn thing felt like a musket next to that new model both in length and weight. The 5.56 has a 10 round magazine, I didn’t find it a big deal and can imagine the 3 rounders won’t be bad as well.
The stock felt pretty good to me also.
I‘ve read about being able to “squeeze the barrel“ against the stock. I tried it on this G2, it’s there but didn’t seem too bad. For what I’m doing, I will buy one of these in 7mm-08 as my “ big game rifle”. Honestly my chances of western hunting are pretty slim and most I’d ever want to do you guys tell me the 7mm will work for

These seem like good rifles. And I’d bet Ruger sells a ton of them.
Will they be missed? I have only owned one but it was awful, no close second place for the worst rifle I’ve owned
I’ve always thought of the m77 as the poor man’s model 70, although not being any cheaper. I think the newer ones have better barrels. But for what they cost they’re a hard sell.
