MKC knife reviews......in progress!

I own three MKC knives; Stoned Goat 2.0, the Freezeout and the Westslope. All three were hair popping sharp out of the box, fit and finish was excellent. I've used the Freezeout and Westslope cleaning Goldeye; if you don't know what Goldeye are, they are very bony fish and have large heavy scales that kill a blades edge. I was happy to find out that both worked supremely well and retained their edges. Both have the magnacut stainless steel washed blades, very easy to clean and maintain. My only complaint is the sheath; kydex is a good sheath material but the wear options are limited. I had a dangler leather sheath made for the Westslope by Grizzly Saddlery in Great Falls Montana. and will be having one made for the Freezeout.
Thanks for the feedback. 🙏

Read this whole thread. Para cord handles, screwed on scales that rust, blades that rust like hell and need to be babied, seller “drops” to navigate, knife tips that look like a ball point pen, high prices…tell me again why someone should buy one of these?

I see mixed reviews on this thread, some good, some meh, some bad.

I've seen the name Benchmade used here a few times. Nothing against them but does the president of Benchmade have a piece of paper stating he was the youngest Journeyman knife maker ever or became the youngest Master knife maker.....ever. Josh Smith can say both, still can!!! If one is going to fess up $300 then maybe they should do some research, watch the tons of videos they have on all aspects of their knives. Maybe watch the podcast Josh did with Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs fame. Everything is American Made!!!! Anybody who has used knives knows high carbon steel blades needs babying....period!!! Stainless steel(really stain resistant steel) can develop rust....takes alot but can be done. I own a few Montana made knives, heavy thick bastards that are harder than hell to resharpen because they all have unique blade profiles and steels. MKC knives are easy to clean, light and easy to keep sharp. Common sense and research goes along way in maintenance and upkeep of a fine blade. For me....it's a Montana based company, use names the have a Montana significance, are mostly small light knives with unique designs and they have served me well.

Not worth it,designs and colors look horrible.
Maybe one or two decent looking but i wouldn’t keep one for free.It would be trade material instantly.

hahaha, thanks for chiming in.

@Josh Boyd , you got any updates to yours since you wrote the review a few years back?

I’m still carrying it in my kill kit as a reliable fixed blade as opposed to the havalon I also carry. The blade does require a little maintenance with a light oil application after use and resharpening. I missed this after a trip and ended up with a little rust on the edge. It was easy to remove with a quick trip through the Worksharp. Overall I think it has been a great knife.

So you don't own one?? If not, then I assume you have never used one?? So you are spouting an uninformed opinion to a question aimed at people's actual informed opinions gathered from use!!!!

For 75.00 there a decent buy.
I have used a few,no way there worth the price.
I have had a knife fetish for 20 years.I have customs all the way to cheap.
Mora Kanbol and Victorinox pairing knife are a much better option.Just my opinion.
Plus you can buy 6-8 of each for the same price.
I have had a so many knives over the years and these are the ones that get the job done.
I don’t have an issue with the cost of a good knife.I just don’t think mkc are worth it.
These range from 8.00 to 300.00
