MAP - Public Lands for Sale in US Senate Bill

This would be an absolute disaster for sportsman in Wyoming. Almost the entire Wyoming Range, huge sections of the Gros Ventre Wilderness, and many critical access points could be gone. Most state representatives in Western states know that their constituents are against this and have been for years. Yet they keep bringing these proposals and plans over and over trying to wear out the public and get us to give up. No doubt many have corrupt intentions related to private industry and stand to gain from this. This is not representative government. Keep hammering! Be Vocal and don't let these corrupt few steal our PUBLIC lands!

Also show up and vote them out for even bringing this garbage up. You might have to vote different party but let’s be real. These aren’t the good guys!

Too bad there wasn’t some sort of playbook out that could have warned us about these sorts of things.

The answer to the question "What does Trump has to do with this right now?? is - nothing. Trump has nothing to do with this amendment presently. I doubt Trump even knows this provision has gone back in. Like usual, the conservation lobby has just added their personal politics into an issue that should be about public lands.

This was added by Mike Lee. Now if Trump signs it, you will be correct. At that point, it will be a Trump issue. But this is an issue that Trump will probably rely entirely on those around him to inform him on if this amendment even makes it to his desk as part of the budget bill. Public land transfer is not a prior item for him or 90% of normal people right now.
I think what you are missing is that this is a bill being proposed to reduce debt created by tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations. Trump / Lee aren't acknowledging that if mineral and oil companies paid their due of taxes, this money wouldn't need to be raised. If Trump isn't aware of how the money to fund the government needs to be made up, well, it does make sense based on the number of times that he filed for bankruptcy.

Yes, our government needs to cut funding in a variety of areas but selling public lands will barely make a dent in that number. It will detrimentally impact me, my children, and all of my friends. Because I chose public service over profit, I may not be able to go to areas that my children took their first backpacking trip, that I hunt, where I got married. These places are up for sale. While another individual joked about Roksliders getting together and purchasing land, yes it is a joke, but our forefathers who developed public land as a way to oppose their native countries would be irked right now. The concept of Royal Land where only the king and his klan get to access is what this bill is about.

Edit: Don't forget that this continues to follow Project 2025. For some reason the Mandate for Leadership PDF isn't attaching but here is a link.

This whole timeline and plan was obvious. My hunting friends and I called them manufacturing a debt crisis by tanking the economy with tariffs and blowing up the deficit with decreased revenue back in January. Then selling that the only way out was to sell off our public lands developers and the extraction industry. It’s not hard to figure out. They’ve been showing their true corrupt colors for years. Maybe we can crowdsource enough money to buy enough $Trump coin to have an influence?

Allow me to zag -- if Rokslide could simply pool together, say, nine hundred million dollars, we could have some PRETTY nice parcels to go around.

In all seriousness, it's heartening to see guys come in here and state facts and come out against this -- HARD -- no matter who you voted for in the pass. We have to keep sending the message that these proposals just aren't un-serious, their hostile towards regular people.
Nothing like scraping up money to buy something that technically already belongs to you....

It is mostly Mit Lee and Utards that are about acquiring public lands

The people in Mike Lee's district need to band together and get him primary'd out next election cycle, dude's getting old.

Having said that, I think a lot of people aren't paying attention and simply looking at the map and freaking out.

"The bill, in a section titled “Mandatory Disposal of Bureau of Land Management Land and National Forest Service System Land for Housing,” requires the BLM and Forest Service to “select for disposal no less than 0.50 percent and not more than 0.75 percent” of eligible land for sale. National parks, wildlife refuges, designated wilderness areas, national monuments, and historic sites would be exempt from sale."

So unless I'm reading things wrong or misunderstanding which is always possible, 0.5% to 0.75% of lands from that map will be selected BY the BLM and BY the USFS to offload. If this bill were to somehow miraculously make it through and get signed, which doesn't seem likely, I trust the BLM and USFS to be able to prioritize and take advantage of the opportunity to offload some junk. I doubt they'll be selecting wintering grounds or pristine mountain lakes or whatever. The map is simply showing what's available to them, not what would be sold, and being used as a scare tactic for click bait by the influencers to rile up people for clicks and traffic. Now if BLM and USFS management end up on somebody's payroll then yes they could select incorrectly and **** us over for sure. I'm sure you guys will keep a close eye on them right? ;)

Agree I think some of the worry comes from the precedent it sets… and where we will go from there.

Every thread is back to the TDS crowd saying crazy TDS stuff. You guys just cant leave it at - this is bad legislation contact your legislator, can you?

Instead of just saying that, we have the usual tds sufferers saying all the memes. In your thread alone we have:

-Everything is trumps fault. Even a amendment directly from mike lee and consistent with utah crap even when trump wasnt in office.

-appeal to emotion. "Think of what trump is doing to my kids"

-class warfare. This is the fault of the rich and trump only likes the rich.

-reference to trump as king and no kings protest against deportation (amazing given how much violence at no kings riots)

-call trump supporters klan members

-muh project 2025 nonsense

Not mention to we have gone from 1-2 millions acres of land to a map of like 200 million acres or more and are telling peope its all going to be fire saled. You don't need to exaggerate or divide the people you want to act on your behalf with some divisive and tds induced political message about trump.

Simply say, "this is bad legislation. Mike Lees proposal is to sell 1-2 million acres of public land and that is a bad deal for hunters. Contact your legislators and let them know you oppose it."

View attachment 894436Some very important winter range and decent deer and elk hunting on the chopping block in my backyard. This isn’t all junk inaccessible lands. This is premium deer and elk habitat. Everyone who even considers this should be voted out or more.
When I looked at the article I saw the same image. When I open the link to the GIS data it is not even close to what's represented in that picture.....not that I support any loss of area.

Gis data here.....edit

Now it does.

Does CJ19 even hunt? All he ever does is pop in to defend the Donald from time to time by saying any criticism is TDS. As if there aren’t valid reasons to criticize this admin.

What I’ve noticed is the more MAGA our politics gets the more this bullshit comes up and the worse shit gets for public land. I’m sick of it.

He’s the figurehead for MAGA and the president right now and the headliner of this big beautiful bill. So when shit like this is brought up by his party he’s going to get dragged in. Even if you lick the boot you can’t pretend to think he cares about hunters and fisherman right? He’s after getting billions in contracts with foreign companies who buy a visit with memecoin purchases.

You may be thinking of Donald but he’s not thinking of you. Without his pandering to the MAGA crowd Mike Lee would be a footnote a long time ago.

No. It is worse than that. You don't have to see it my way. But I believe it is worse than that. By far.

I am a very thoughtful person who makes decisions slowly. This is not an emotional response. The last time I met Trump I personally felt he was the biggest shyster I had ever met, and I absolutely believe he not only supports this, but that he's actually dangling Lee out there to take the heat from a move he knows will be unpopular even with his own base - it is 100% his playbook. I'm curious what your reaction was when you met him? Did you get the same sense of his character that I did?

Ive hunted my entire life with most of it on public land and spent my entire career in resource management. Ive hunted the west for 30 yrs. I really have little concern for killing stuff anymore. I go on a yearly trip bc i like western public land.

As for the rest of your post, Donald Trump appointed Ryan Zinke to a key role to ensure sound public land policy his first term and was being advised directly by his son who was an avid big game hunter. Thats the same Ryan Zinke that is the co founder of the public land caucus and the one all the conservation groups are relying on to be a public land ally now that its convenient for them.

In his first term, the trump admin had members looking at this very website to assist in making public land policy decisions or see what public opinion was. The conservation swamp creatures could not stand that their constant stream of fear tactics were not coming true. So, the conservation industry, lobby, NGOs, etc ran constant campaigns to get those people removed because they were trump allies providing sound public land guidance. Big conservation inc is interested in nothing more than their own political goals and financials. The conservation industry insiders, and federal unions members that hide here have a financial interest in public land politics not me. My interest is genuine enjoyment.

The admins have asked people to avoid politics. The TDS crowd cant do that. I will respond to the political nonsense that this group of posters keeps posting. This is not HUNTTALK where the industry insiders are able to simply appeal to their swamp creature admin friend(s) and have people removed for having an opinion that is not in line with industry insiders. If you don't want people to response to your nonsense like calling all Trump supporters KKK members or posting orangeman bad in every thread then don't post that nonsense. Like for all the "this is the riches fault" talk, it sure is interesting that the "conservation" lobbyist group (The Wilderness Society) is paying the former BLM head and former eco terrorist Tracy Stone Manning ~500k a year to lobby for Big Conservation Inc. Seems like the rich to me. Gotta get those solar panels on public land and union $$$ dollars secured i guess.

Might need to dig deeper in this bill and find what other contents would be getting the wraith of the hunting community if this weren’t there. The idea of using Mike Lee as a sacrifice makes me think that’s likely the case.

Yeah, and if he didn’t make the shift towards the MAGA crowd it would have been the death of him politically. But his shift towards appeasing MAGA kept him afloat above it all. You can get away with a lot in some constituencies if you play the anti-woke card well.
