The people in Mike Lee's district need to band together and get him primary'd out next election cycle, dude's getting old.
Having said that, I think a lot of people aren't paying attention and simply looking at the map and freaking out.
"The bill, in a section titled “Mandatory Disposal of Bureau of Land Management Land and National Forest Service System Land for Housing,” requires the BLM and Forest Service to “select for disposal no less than 0.50 percent and not more than 0.75 percent” of eligible land for sale. National parks, wildlife refuges, designated wilderness areas, national monuments, and historic sites would be exempt from sale."
So unless I'm reading things wrong or misunderstanding which is always possible, 0.5% to 0.75% of lands from that map will be selected BY the BLM and BY the USFS to offload. If this bill were to somehow miraculously make it through and get signed, which doesn't seem likely, I trust the BLM and USFS to be able to prioritize and take advantage of the opportunity to offload some junk. I doubt they'll be selecting wintering grounds or pristine mountain lakes or whatever. The map is simply showing what's available to them, not what would be sold, and being used as a scare tactic for click bait by the influencers to rile up people for clicks and traffic. Now if BLM and USFS management end up on somebody's payroll then yes they could select incorrectly and **** us over for sure. I'm sure you guys will keep a close eye on them right?
