Trial153, so now we are posting comments from other progressive bloggers as evidence of conspiracy to sell off all federal lands?? This oraganization which is part of a "secretive right-wing legistlation mill" according to the link/comments.

https://www.alec.org/about/ ...sounds super duper secretive. Let's just have a dictator, or better yet let's elect a messiah, so then we don't have to deal with this representative gov't thing and citizens coming together to help effect gov't accountability. Geeesh.

Really have you looked into ALEC or did you do a 20 second google search?

ALEC has no connection to Koch brothers? How about oil and natural gas exploration companies? I think states residents might a little worried when their representatives are sponsoring bills written by an organization whose primary purpose is to write bills for corporations.

Might want to look into the connection of the Wilks Bothers, everyone favorite western land buying tycoons. They have a fondness for giving money to the State Policy Network who just so happen to work closely with ALEC to get their pro corporate bills into the state legislators.

The money and lobbing that is behind this movement all point the the same small groups of individuals and corporations, does anyone really think they are pouring this money in for the public good?

A government of the corporation, by the corporation, for the corporation.

Or put another way. The finest government money can buy.

Partisans are fools. I appreciate all of the ideals presented here but if you vote for liberal or conservative policies you will be disappointed.

I'm a conservative who voted for Bush twice just to see him expand government twofold with DHS and rip up the constitution with the Patriot Act.

Fool me once..........

Still a barrage of smart ass attempts to bring this back to a partisan liberal/conservative argument.

I don't care what you think of the NRA.

I don't care what you think of gay marriage.

I don't care what you think of fencing the border.

I don't care what you think of Hillary, Sanders, or Trump.

To parody a stupid comment made earlier, there are a number of folks that will vote for Cruz even though he has OPENLY SAID HE WILL SELL PUBLIC LANDS.

Whatever you do, if you are a public land hunter you owe it to yourself to write to your Congressional delegates and tell them that you do value public lands and your ability to recreate on them. You owe it to yourself to see what ALEC really is, and it is no friend to the common public land hunter.

It doesn't take long until the "stupid" and "idiot" comments start. Just to support your comment, I will vote for Ted Cruz or any Republican candidate that gets the nomination REGARDLESS of their stance on public lands. It is just not an issue where I am willing to draw a line in the sand. Someone being a Democrat and caucusing with liberals is....There is at least a slim chance that a Republican might just show a little bit of backbone and stand for the constitution. Not a good chance, but a chance.

Perhaps the common ground is that you could reach out to whoever you support and let them know that you support public lands and oppose transfer?

Which was exactly the point I was trying to make. Vote for Cruz until your fingers fall off. But at least take the time to let him know that you don't support the transfer of public lands (provided you DO feel that way).

The "stupid" reference was merely to point out that the sword always cuts both ways. Vote for Cruz, kiss public lands goodbye. Vote for Bloomberg, expect attacks on gun rights. It's like deciding which corner of a shit sandwich you want to start eating at. You have made your preference know. However, to talk like a conservative is the end-all be-all to the Constitution is folly. Look at the Patriot Act. There is more than one amendment to the Constitution, and conservative judges have repeatedly shown themselves to be willing to sacrifice personal freedoms for security of the nation and state.

Peace. Out.

....and my point is vote for someone who will defend the Constitution, limit government expansion and burdensome regulation even if they are wrong on public lands vs. an avowed socialist or a closet socialist. Then (do as you are asking those who think like I do) contact them on their public lands position.

Oh...and the Patriot Act. No argument here.....other than Bush was a Republican not a conservative.

I can guarantee you I will NEVER vote for Cruz so long as he maintains his stance on public lands. If he wins, I will certainly let him know. However, my pen isn't nearly as big and rich as the Wilks and Koch Bros.
