Are you guys running the synergy footbeds with these?

I'm not...superfeet for me. I run superfeet in all my boots/shoes I hike it. Either green or orange depending on how much volume I feel I need to take up in the boot.

I do, and while I like them it is as much about me needing a high voume footbed for my boots to fit correctly in the heel as as anything.

I'm thinking about getting some customs made for mine. Not really a problem going uphill but I can feel the need for cushion going down

Maybe try the Orange superfeet....they get a bit more cushion for me than standard insoles or even the green superfeet.

I have been really happy with my Solomon Quests. Both fit and feel has been great and they have been on a lot of adventures with out failure or fault. I've had them for almost a year and half and the wear on them is becoming and issue. Rand is blowing out and all waterproofness is gone.

I don't scale cliffs after sheep but I do find myself on some steep shale/rock and wet, loose terrain. I need new boots and would be happy to buy another pair of quests. Are the cevendales going to be worth the extra $150? Are they going to be more durable?

Coming from someone who has both: Yes and Yes

Depends on how much volume you have or want to have. The Synergy's actually take up less room than the factory insoles in most cases. The Super Feet and most of the Spencos are going to take up more room than the factory insoles. I would LOVE to see a Synergy foot bed with just a little more volume than the current one. Maybe just a little thicker in the heel and arch.

I have a pair of the G1 version and they take up more volume, The issue is they are ~ 4 OZ. each, so they offset much of the benefit of going to a lighter boot.

Trying to determine how stiff or "klunky" the Cevedales are? Meaning, if I were to do a jog/sprint in them, will it feel like I have boxes on my feet instead of shoes?

I have a pair of Asolo Fugitives that I love for the good balance of support and flexibility, but I'm wondering if they'll be enough for an elk hunt in Idaho?

Running in them isn't my intention. Just a way for me to gauge how agile they would allow me to be.

I have roughly 15 miles on my Tech Lights with Syngery foot beds so far.

They are light and comfortable and easy to maneuver in rocky terrain.

The foot beds surprised me, I was concerned they would make my feet overheat and sweat really bad, but that is a non issue.

I was also concerned that the boot would be really stiff, but it is somewhat flexible, much more so than the Meindl Denali is.

So far I am extremely happy with them and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Any updates? as they have been out for a while now.... thinking about ordering a pair. Thanks!! I have the Hanwag Alaska's, I am assuming the Cevedale's are quite a bit lighter? thanks!

They eventually won me over. I had warrantied some Lowa Hunters, which I loved and thought I would try out the Cvedales. Yep, they are light, and stiff! They felt tight around the middle of my foot and my feet would feel pretty tired being that tight after 8+ hours in the boots. I continued wearing them last winter to walk to school (1 mile total) and then wore them this summer hiking, and used them exclusively this hunting season. They are now starting to feel broken in, and there is no more tightness around my foot. I have worn them in 90 degree weather and -10 degree weather. I can say my feet start feeling cold around 0 degrees even while hiking. Not a major issue, but I think anything colder than -10 I might want my hunters back. I probably have a little over 100 miles on them now. I did have an issue with my heels, but I have big heel spurs. Once they started to break in a little more, and I started to wear a thin liner sock, I have not had a single blister.

I like them. But, I would still like another pair of boots. Something less aggressive for hunts that are not of the mountain variety (think river bottoms, and valleys).

After nearly a year with my Cevedales from L&S I can say that I will buy them again when they wear out. But that might be because I can't get the Hanwag Alaskans anymore ;) Both are great boots and can't go wrong with either.

Why can't you get them anymore? I just logged onto L&S to see and they allow me to purchase them... I have to get a new pair as mine are about worn out, this will be a bummer if I can't get the Alaskans!

The Hawag Alaskans have showed up in the Scheels stores around here in the last year.

I don't love my Clevedale's...I wear'em for lighter duty but that is about it. My "go to" boot lately has been the Lowa Bighorn.
