Don’t think it’s jealousy. I actually like Joe for the most part and think is a good interviewer. Steve is “nuanced” and paints the hunting picture in a positive light, dude has made loads of money off shooting small bucks and western hunting, Cam falls more into the annoying category for me, no social media other than this and another hunting forum so I don’t see a lot of it. But when you do it is unnecessary and often annoying. I do realize that all of them have brought more and more people into the archery hunting world specifically western hunting and that we are beating that poor horse to death… I happen to have been born and lived in a Rocky Mountain state so now I can’t hunt my own state without a giant army of folks to contend with and tags that are limited and insanely sought after, good/bad, I’m not sure 🤔
Couldn’t agree more!

The whole resident vs non-resident argument will seem pretty stupid when neither get to hunt.
Regardless whether there's hunting or not, there will still be residents and non-residents for each state; just like there are citizens and non-citizens on the national level. Hunting is just a small part of that debate.

Listened to the recent JRE and was actually impressed/surprised that Cam and Steve seemed to have the same thoughts as I do about the agenda regarding reintroducing predators to eliminate hunting. Maybe us hunters will finally get our shit together. Was also really pleased to hear Cam introduce HOWL. JRE is obviously a powerful platform, and Im glad they had this discussion.
I enjoyed the podcast, surprisingly. I like the ballot awareness they’re bringing to the forefront.
It got super tough to listen to Joe talk about jealous dudes. Then he realized later “you know, when someone kills a 400” elk, there’s one less on the mountain now” You don’t say? Almost like it’s a limited resource or something.
Really was hoping cam and Steve would have pushed back on the natural animal thing a little more. Joe is great at seeing other viewpoints when someone is forceful in their beliefs and both of them could have explained it well enough for him to understand.

I think they’re becoming aware of the negatives they’ve brought to the table. Which is good. It’s probably a little much for me to expect them to actually talk about it.
I do think they’ve all added to the sport.

listened last night. Good podcast. Two things stuck out: 1) Joe likes making declarative statements that sound like he is an utter expert but experienced people will see he’s a step too far; 2) Cam often likes taking a topic/idea deeper to get to the meat of an issue. That’s good.

I really think Matt should go on the show.

Listened yesterday on my way to a job.

Good:
Mentioning HOWL and other lesser known conservation groups.
I enjoyed some of the "back in the day" stories.

Bad:
Discussing Colorado Mtn Lion ballot initiative, but completely failing to acknowledge how it really got started. (Derek Wolfe IG post)
Their answer to "Not enough tags to go around" was a collective answer of "quit being poor", was pretty cringe.

Overall, I enjoyed it.

It surprised me that they didnt edit out the part where Joe admits to hunting with an illegal sight on his bow. Hanes tried to save it without coming out and saying "dude, dont say that." I think I would have edited that out.
He using one of the auto sights like garmin?

Yea, he admitted to having a Garmin Xero on his bow for a day in Utah. Then he was told that they were illegal and he couldnt use it.

Joe said something to the effect of going out for the day then getting told he couldnt have that sight and Hanes said something to the effect of, you were just practicing that day. I need to start classifying all my days of hunting and not killing something as "practice."

Joe really claimed to be a brown belt in hunting? LMAO! Every super rich guy who has only ever been on guided hunts I'm sure claims the same thing. They have no idea what they don't know. Give him an OTC tag in a general unit and make him do all the research and scouting and go out there by himself and we'll see how quickly that brown belt turns white. Lol.
He's a brown belt at his hunting style. So on a private ranch, with hundreds of giant bulls and three guides, he's a brown belt.

Say it louder for the defenders of hunting celebrities way in the back!!
Eh I am pretty against the “hunting celebs” but I don’t think wolfe’s lion was the catalyst… I don’t think it helps/helped but it was coming anyways. They tried it during a legislative measure in 2022… we crushed it then, this is the same group using a different tactic it was coming anyway

There’s no possible way it didn’t fuel the antis. They get there photos of bloody dead predators for more emotional donations from….social media.

Wolfe’s lion was everywhere in the main stream media. If someone wants to debate how that convinces people on the fence to be in favor of cat hunting I’m all ears.

Brother I am totally with you. It is just fuel for the antis bonfire. In this case it was coming down the pipe with or without Instagram. It was made known the minute it got squashed in 2022 they would be trying for a ban via a vote of the people and it was destined to be 24 since it’s a pres election year with a lot of polarization and big turn out

Yea I see your point, no worries. Coincidental timing for the bill and the attention that hunt got by MSM it appears.

I had to google it again, the negative press articles are abundant and lots of “fact checkers” lol

No it isn’t helping one bit, all the social stars should be out decrying what is happening but somehow they will be too busy on their African safari or there 7th elk hunt…

I liked the part when Joe admitted to using illegal equipment on a hunt this past year, but basically said it's okay since he didn't shoot anything. Cam tried to cover him by saying he didn't think he went out with it on the hunt and only shot with it in camp, but Joe didn't catch on to what he was trying to do. You would think they would have been smart enough to edit that out.

Plus him saying these garmin bow sights don't offer any advantage.
