Grew up in the Memphis metro and now live in the Little Rock metro. Guess I am adequately prepared to move to Pueblo or Abq. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Hey, I get it. I live in Grand Junction and it’s got its bad parts and I am frustrated with the problems here. But like most cities it has some really great places as well. In the Denver metro area you can move to SW Littleton and be 40 minutes or more from anything remotely “ghetto.” In a smaller city like Pueblo or GJ the good and bad are more mixed in. That’s just part of living in a city that size. These days I live in a nice neighborhood but I’m a very short drive away from much less desirable stuff. People from the bigger cities or from fancier smaller cities/towns sometimes can’t deal with it.

Back in the 80's Pueblo was one of the top 4-5 mafia cities in the country. They also have had more Medal of Honor recipients than any other city in the country. It's a unique place for sure.
Actually, Weymouth, Mass has had 5 Medal of Honor recipients. Pueblo has had 4, so they are #2.

For comparison, 61 Canadians have won the Medal of Honor and George Custer's little brother won it twice. He died with his dumb ass brother at the Little Big Horn.

Northern New Mexico is nice, like RR/AF/Taos. Most of it is trash tho. They’re about out of water. My neighbors had big fancy houses and dry wells, getting water hauled. They’re adding another 4000 homes back there and some real shady development is taking place - pumping water in all the way from estancia basin. I lived in sandia park and never once locked my gate or my front door in 3 years, just west of Edgewood but it’s a dry dusty place to live.

Española is complete trash and it’s about the average community for the state. Rio rancho is cookie cutter suburbia and it’s not worth the drive to ABQ. Even the nice parts of ABQ suck - our realtor’s husband owns a bunch of well know urgent cares, rakes in money. She says they watch people rummage through her garage on their security cameras occasionally. They’re in a multi million dollar home. You couldn’t have paid me to stay there, and trust me people tried lol.
Lived in Roswell for 4 years and enjoyed my time there. There were good and "bad" parts of town. All the white people lived north of 380 and all the hispanic people lived south. We went to church on the south side for about half our time there and on the north side the other half. Anytime we wanted a good meal, we ate on the south side. The north side was cookie cutter subdivisions that could be any town USA. Nothing particularly special about it. I made some friends there I still have today. Had a child born there and tried to go back a few years ago for work but it didn't work out. I enjoyed my time in Roswell.

Funny this should come up. I have a hunt in the general vicinity of Albuquerque, Espanola, Taos, Santa Fe. Where around those parts would be a good place to stay for a night or two either side coming or going where I or my stuff won't get messed with. Coming from the Southeast I was going to try and get out there a day to two early. I live close to Jackson, MS with high per capita murder rate(as bad or worse than Chicago, Memphis, etc) but I'm not staying there or leaving my belongings in my vehicle.

In New Mexico if you think it’s even slightly sketchy, it’s prob worse than you think.

I graduated from high school in Pueblo, well Pueblo County High Which is where all the farm kids went. Not the same as in town. In 1976 most of us kids from the rurals did not go to parties In Pueblo because it had a rough reputation.

my son had a Mexican laborer on his crew who didn’t speak English that well. Whenever things weren’t going quite right, he would look around and say “All is shit, All is shit!! Perspective is everything.

New Mexico rules. Beautiful country and interesting history and way better food than Colorado. The ABQ area is a great place to live if you are picky about where you settle down.

Even I will admit Espanola can get rough.

Please stop countering the narrative that NM sucks and nobody should move here. I've been robbed and raped twice today (filled up the truck and Jeep)!
