.......my home state (Oregon), just like Co, has SOOOOOO much potential to be an awesome state.....
It does, but greater Portland controls eastern half.

I liked driving the Columbia River Gorge. Saw several attractive communities there. And I would like to visit Joseph.

Wife went to college in Alamosa, would have been 2005-2009ish. We go to visit some of her friends there and the first time we drove through Pueblo in 2017, first thing she said when we drove through is "this place is such a ghetto shit hole...you don't want to hang out around here". She said even the guys that lived there that she went to school with told her to burn through there at night if driving.

As a benchmark the worst I have heard her say about a town while just driving through is "I don't think I'd want to live here"

Yep! I live on the very south coast (border of Cali) and have been commuting every week to work in NE Oregon, and drive the gorge twice a week… we worked through Joseph this year, and enterprise, and over the top of the blues and wallowas, and I really do like that area… in umatilla now, and it’s currently 111 degrees, and I had to work in that all of this week, which I’m not a fan of heat… people are generally cool most of the whole east side of the state… completely different breed than the coast… there are cool folks on the coast too, they are just a lot more diluted by the rest on the west side, haha

I couldn’t live over here unless I could take Sept off every year, and the last half of October… I like hunting the coast…. Most don’t understand why, but I love chasing blacktail and roosie… I would move over here if I could spend the fall on the coast, because the people over here are pretty high quality, hard working, REAL people… and traffic is a lot more tolerable 😉

I get it, we are in highlands ranch and there are benefits to living in the compound:)
Highlands Ranch = 1 bed/1 bath condo minimum $300k and any other single family dwelling minimum $525k. You must be raking in the $$$. I hate when I see you guys at youth wrestling and baseball tournaments. So many pretentious moms. Karen country.

Country roads, take me home.

LOL this thread is great. Some real fancy pants people on here.

The Pueblo area is fine. Plenty of good places to live.

If you guys went to New Mexico you'd probably all poop your pants.
New Mexico is a massive shithole. Especially Albuquerque. Espanola is a funny place too, bunch of broke dick gang bangers.

New Mexico rules. Beautiful country and interesting history and way better food than Colorado. The ABQ area is a great place to live if you are picky about where you settle down.

Even I will admit Espanola can get rough.

Nothing surprises me in Albuquerque anymore.
I was looking at applying for a job in Albuquerque a couple years ago and we had hired a summer worker from there so I went and asked him about the area. He was younger and graduated high school in 2014 or so. I asked him and he looks at me and says “I drove a piece of shit, 1980s van in high school. It broke down, so we left it on the side of the road to go home and get something to tow it with. We came back a couple hours later and someone had stolen the tires off it, in broad daylight. Do you really want to live in a place that people will steal the tires off a piece of shit van in broad daylight?”

That answered that.

I was going to point out the crime to population ratio of Pueblo. The area is about 170k, which is relatively small to half of the towns listed. Yes it’s going by a percentage but if a small city has big city problems…

I coach high school football in Fort Morgan, Colorado and after every away game win against the larger front range schools our boys sing this song on the bus when we are one exit away from our town. The sweetest time was last year after winning the state championship. Brought a tear to my eye.

sh!tholes are everywhere a person wants to see them. It's even more convenient if they can blame it on "librals" LOL

I've been to a lot of towns on that list. Good and bad places in every one of them, just like pretty much every town in the world.

Pueblo is a working class town - a rarity for the front range of CO. But I guess some folks find working class people offensive.

Northern New Mexico is nice, like RR/AF/Taos. Most of it is trash tho. They’re about out of water. My neighbors had big fancy houses and dry wells, getting water hauled. They’re adding another 4000 homes back there and some real shady development is taking place - pumping water in all the way from estancia basin. I lived in sandia park and never once locked my gate or my front door in 3 years, just west of Edgewood but it’s a dry dusty place to live.

Española is complete trash and it’s about the average community for the state. Rio rancho is cookie cutter suburbia and it’s not worth the drive to ABQ. Even the nice parts of ABQ suck - our realtor’s husband owns a bunch of well know urgent cares, rakes in money. She says they watch people rummage through her garage on their security cameras occasionally. They’re in a multi million dollar home. You couldn’t have paid me to stay there, and trust me people tried lol.
