We are turning in to Europe. Hunting the Kings deer, where only the rich can hunt. Residents don't care cause it doesn't affect them, that's how the F&G get away with it.

It absolutely affects me. I just happen to like the proposals. If I wanted to hunt AL, I would not whine about their laws or prices.
2 replies above makes my point.
Doesn't affect me, then its not my problem.
I've got mine attitude.
What happens when it does affect you and everyone
has your attitude?.......
Hunters better wake the he$$ up!!!
I can and will afford to go elk hunting regardless of price of the tag. But sad to see others being priced out, as some friends of mine have been.
We as supposed to be recruiting new/ younger hunters, and the price is getting to the point that a young hunter in their 20s-40s raising a family is hard pressed to make this work. I have had friends like that go with me and because I am going anyway, didn't charge for gas, etc. because I wanted them to go and I spent the same amount whether they went or not. But along the way, the tag prices have gotten to where they can't justify it any more.
Yes, you can always rationalize that they can "cut corners" all year and make it work, but when you have a wife and 2-3 kids that need stuff, that logic doesn't work. Supply and demand is not the way to price wildlife tags IMO.
Take them hunting in the state they live in. Recruiting new hunters doesn’t mean they have to go elk hunting.I can and will afford to go elk hunting regardless of price of the tag. But sad to see others being priced out, as some friends of mine have been.

Exactly. Everyone is crying that the hunter numbers are declining East of the Mississippi, and hunter numbers are skyrocketing across the West. Sounds like Eastern hunters need to recruit more of their neighbors to hunt in their home states, not to come hunt elbow to elbow in OTC western states. Go get em.Take them hunting in the state they live in. Recruiting new hunters doesn’t mean they have to go elk hunting.
Are tags really that expensive? What does it cost for tickets to go to the Disney theme parks for a week? How about an NFL football game for about 4 hours on a Sunday? $700 for a WY elk tag that is good for 30 days comparatively seems like a pretty good deal.
