IDFG PROPOSAL RAISING NONRESIDENT FEES, REDUCING TAGS FOR OUT OF STATE HUNTERS

Like others said, the increase won't break most people, unless you are already spending more than you should to hunt out of state. Took the fam to Hawaii for 10 days in June. Do that once and you'll see that ID isn't that bad after all.
Where u getting a camo suit for only $600? My FL merino corset cost almost that much 😁

Sounds super sexy

Actually you are not correct. The people (public) of the STATE where the animals reside own those animals. The national public does not own the animals of another state regardless of if those animals are on private, state or federal lands. You may not like the law, but state ownership ( public of THAT state) is the law of the land and therefore the state in question controls wildlife in that state. That is not open for debate. It is fact.
I thought everyone knew that

I'll gladly pay a fee increase.

I find it odd though that some people are for reducing opportunities, when its proven that access and opportunity are what is hurting hunting the most.

Not one mention of making the method of take more difficult...... not to stir the pot too much but we can't all have our cake and eat it too.

I’m all for paying a slight increase for the opportunity to hunt out of state.

All things considered Idaho does a good job and are more then fair with the NR.

As hunting numbers out west continue to grow there is going to have to be more limitations on opportunity. It’s a very simple equation.

Colorado has issues. They are addicted to the non resident money so they don’t dare do anything to correct the glutton of hunters. It’s getting harder and harder to have a quality hunt with the increasing hunting pressure.

we only have to sacrifice opportunities if we want to continue to use the current methods of take.

basically make hunting harder (regress) and retain opportunity. I know it's an uncomfortable option for most... but would you rather sit out?

That’s easy for me. I’m an archery hunter. But not sure how that idea will fly overall. That being said you’re correct that is an option.

Maybe a stupid question, but overall hunter numbers are declining in a steep trend.

Is this just a western hunting issue?

Western hunter numbers are quite robust. Add in the extra eastern hunting pressure and we have some crowded woods. That’s why the hunter recruitment idea is not very compelling to us westerners.

Yeah, and with all that private land nobody wants to go hunt whitetails in the East...maybe bears though? Still feels like the West Coast is the best coast.

Side note, any of you ever bugled so hard you pulled a muscle in your abdomen?

I am a lifetime Idaho Tag holder, and a non resident, so I think I feel both sides. However, what all of theses opinions skip by is that a large portion of these hunts occur on NATIONAL forest or Federal Dirt. I get limiting state lands to state residents, but it strikes me as hypocritical to also limit non residents on opportunities where the state doesn't "own" the land or the game therein.
The dirt you hunt on has nothing to do with it. Idaho is over run with nonresident hunters

I’m totally changing my handle to ā€œIdaho_residentā€ just so I get to be one of the cool kids.

This is the same deal with Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico. Not unique to Idaho. Western states raise prices sometimes. They might limit nonresidents. Don’t throw a fit about something you’re not entitled to.

reisedent tags also get raised from time to time.

I have a question for the non residents. does your state not charge higher rates for non resident hunting and fishing?????????????
