Last summer we had rolling blackouts in CA due to air conditioner loads, without millions of additional electric cars. When the wind blew hard enough, power was shut off due to wildfire hazards, making wind turbines pointless.

The green energy scam is just politics playing with power and control. Subsidize tax payer money to donors for a “righteous cause”, get campaign donations in return. Force people to switch to some pea brain idea with no actual plan. All the while we bear the brunt of their spending and decisions in the form of taxes and cost of living, THEN add inflation on top of that. @zion zig zag Its funny you throw out conspiracy theories, but in reality they want to monitor and control when you charge your car, and allocate how much you can use for it, which controls where you can go…

Muscle cars with big engines became a symbol for freedom and individualism, exactly what the left despises. Raw power and open roads, the freedom to explore it with gas/diesel powered vehicles, is being shut down by regulations for “climate change”. Joey invoked a wartime act to fight against a problem HE caused - they are at war with us plain and simple. That writings been on the wall since he was VP. Funny how no one talks about the ice age ending due to “global warming” too, but Im sure caveman’s fires caused that one…

I see brandon’s term as the Dem’s last breath, trying to institute as many hair-brained ideas as possible before they are set back 50 years as a political party. President Joe Biden authorized the Defense Production Act to spur US manufacturing of solar and several other forms of clean energy, the White House announced Monday.

Biden authorized the Energy Department to use the DPA to speed up domestic manufacturing of solar panel components, energy-efficient heat pumps, building insulation, electric transformers needed for the power grid and equipment like electrolyzers and fuel cells. The White House also announced it will leverage the power of the federal government’s purse for clean energy, using federal procurement to increase US solar manufacturing.

I hope both parties die and we see a reemergence of some semblance of moderate normalcy. I foresee a lot of pain before then. Their base income is nearly 2.5 times that of the median family (could be one or two peoples income) income in the US. If your making 180,000 a year, fuel prices are inconvenient at 6 bucks a gallon, not detrimental.

I'm psyched about electric cars. I don't quite get why people are so resistant to new technology. It's far from perfect, but will continue to get better and better.

I'm researching solar for my home and maybe even small scale wind. I'd love to be less dependent on external energy in my daily life. I don't see a downside other than the inability to refuel quickly on long trips and possibly cold weather performance. Sitting at a charging station for 45-60 minutes during a 8-12 hour drive would drive me nuts. For 90% of my daily life, electric will be great.

I don't quite get why people are so resistant to new technology.

It’s not about being resistant to new tech it’s about the resistance to being force fed something that as a whole isn’t quite ready for prime time. This forced transition will break the backs of many who can’t afford it. Instead of letting the system work and transition more naturally .gov is here to muck it up and pretty much fail just like they almost always do.

I haven’t read this entire thread so I apologize if someone else has said this already. I get the thought behind seeking alternative energy sources. What I don’t get is that the singular focal point always ends up involving the demonization of it’s use relative to transportation. Almost everything we touch on a daily basis is derived from petrochemicals, and I don’t think that is going away. We missed the boat and should’ve been building a substantial and robust natural gas infrastructure. It’s clean enough to flare and waste rather than harness as cheap energy??? Missed that boat in my opinion. Anyone seen the lithium mines??? But a pipeline is a no go…. SMH. Not to mention, where will all of these batteries go when they are no longer useful? Recycle or landfills? Lots of things look good on paper….

@307 It was hilarious last Christmas travel season watching the line of teslas and smart cars wait for 4-5 hours to charge up halfway through their 8 hour, 500 mile road trip down I-5. Not enough charge stations to meet demand at peak times.

CA has actually been getting coal power for their “clean energy” with an epa waiver on emissions - aka we are getting dirty coal power for the fake lib fantasy of going green.

Speaking of things the gov messes up. How bout that high speed bullet train to nowhere?? Good ole CA and their ostrich voters. Id love to see any election in CA audited btw…..

This entire thing is criminal, unnecessary, and a complete lie.

If they were serious about this there would be some sort of plan.

That plan would start at nuclear energy.

In the meantime we would be building infrastructure to deliver the necessary power to decrease what petroleum based fuels that could be replaced.

We would be drilling and refining our own oil to fill our needs and keep prices low.

We could easily be independent and at the forefront of decreasing fossil fuel.

It’s an absolute shame that people are being crushed by this and inflation.

Completely disgusted by those in charge. You can’t simply force people into a pipe dream by beating them into poverty.
