I’ve had a big mamma jamma Outdoorsman’s aluminum tripod for 15+ years. Love its stability, but it’s a tank. How does the Tricer stack up? Will it save me some weight without sacrificing stability or utility?

No. It won’t be as stable. Nor will any lightweight tripod. Less stable when glassing and certainly less stable when shooting.

But I like the Tricer and carry it on backpack hunts where I’ll be glassing off the tripod. It’s certainly stable enough for running binos and spotters (I’ve only run up to 65mm spotters currently). It can move a little in the winds though.

I already have a small CF backpacking tripod. Looking for a lighter full size option for truck hunting.
