I’ll give my two cents. JVB came off as scolding, chastising, and basically saying we’re foolish to use a 223 or similar. Even thought we have a 450+ place thread about success with thousands of pictures to prove it.

Form does advocate smaller calibers, but he’s not saying someone is foolish for shooting a 300WM if they’d like. He is simply presenting facts. He also stresses “don’t take my word for it, go try it yourself”. That’s why I respect him.

There’s a clear difference between the two. JVB is calling people out, and putting them down. Form presents data, encourages an action, but more so he encourages you to go find out for yourself.

I’ll poke something in the ass if I have to. I shot an animal in the ass this year that was already shot. He was going over a ridge at 700 yards. It put him down quickly.

I got hung up on the fact that "Jack" stated the cartridges that he uses which possess ample "authority" and only went down to a 6.5 creed. Right there it's stated that he actually has no data that's relevant to the discussion other than 6.5 and up kill game which no one disputes.

willing to speak up about it?
If it is I don't see that as something negative.

My main issue with JVB isn’t that he has a lot of different beliefs.

It’s that he is totally sold out and bought and paid for.
He is just simply not objective to any product that would be in competition to his sponsors.

It just takes any and all credibility away.

It’s one thing not bad mouth your sponsors, or to say this or that is what I prefer or what works for me.

But when you clearly won’t be objective in any way you’re just a shill and any information you may have to offer I consider suspect.

I think someone's opinion is different then disinformation just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make it disinformation. As great as the 223 thread is it just pictures with dead critters.

Rokslide is not woke. That term has almost no meaning anymore due to being bandied about by boners, just like racist and sexist.

When the information is conveyed as fact rather than opinion, it can be put into the category of disinformation. JVB tried to say it was his opinion, but largely failed due to his presentation and then mini-rant at the end.

I have to start out by saying I also agree that all these bs terms (woke, cancel culture, racist, facist, misinformation etc) have been used as an easy way to dismiss someone else's opinion when it doesn't match your own.


BUT let's not think that just because you (or me) and a bunch of buddies on the internet or elsewhere agree on something that your side is beyond reproach. Can't use blanket statements like 'Rokslide is not woke'. Rokslide will bandy around woke terms when you refuse to do business with a place that supports convicted poachers, if that business is a sponsor. Such atrocities will be labeled 'cancel culture'

Nobody is perfect, and that is never more obvious when money or a chosen ideology is involved. JVB is also proof of that, I am in no way defending that guy.

Because the only way to "scientifically" settle this is to tie them up, shoot them with various bullets, and time how long it takes them to actually die.
You'll want to be close to make sure that shot placement is perfect every time, 50 yards should do it. Use downloaded ammo so the bullets are impacting at long range velocities. Come up with a Garmin to chronograph each shot as it impacts.

Bullets: TMK, FMJ, Mono, and something with a picture of an elk on the box
Calibers: .223, 6.5, and 30 should be enough spread. You don't need multiple rifles, just interpret the data as "This is like a 308 at X hundred yards which is the same as a 300 Mag at 200 yards past that"
That's 12 combinations of bullet and rifle.
Eight horses shot with each combination equals 96. Eight should be enough to be statistically significant, and leaves 4 horses to haul wagons to the glue factory.

How well do these things stick to fur?

Finally a post that can't possibly have any detractors. Only thing I would say is if some data is good, more is better. Why stop at 100? Let's two birds this thing, take care of the west's feral horse problem and end the debate at once.

Horses ..... The Wind River reservation just got rid of lots of horses. I'm not sure where they all went. But if we could get some from them for a low cost, I'd be a willing participant in bullet testing and taste testing.
