No celebratory beers???

I will certainly have celebratory beers, but I'm not backpacking in... My entire fridge is full of craft beer; and I'm talking real craft beer not InBev 'craft beer'. Probably will bring several Crooked Stave maybe a Black Project. I also have 2 Russian River Consecration which may be my celebratory beer (really hard to find here).

Agree, mine are at the truck but I've considered packing a few Deviant Dales or local Roughtails due to the convenience of pint cans. I can always find a pound or two of unneeded weight to off load for the beer.

While I didn't read all the posts, it appears we all think pretty much the same. Nothing tops a day off like passing the bottle over a kill.

While I don't always pack for the celebration, more times than not it seems one of us has a pint of Brandy, Apple Pie or Fireball in our pack.... I like sugary liquors for the energy they bring to the table. I call it liquid ambition, just what the body needs for a tough packout.

I'm a beer fan myself, mainly craft beer and specifically IPAs. Big fan of Uinta Hop Nosh and Big Sky IPA. Been known to stuff a six of IPA/ Pale Ale cans in my pack on a backpack hunt. Unneeded weight but a nice refreshment at the end of a long day.

I've also had the pleasure of drinking a nice cold IPA on top of a mountain, after a very hard day of hiking. Like you Shawn, I felt the weight was unneeded, so I stuffed them into my buddy's pack when he wasn't looking. He never even noticed the extra wt. and didn't discover the treat until we were unpacking to spike for the night. I think he may have been a little irritated at first but, a couple sips into it had him smiling from ear to ear. I have found this to be the best/most efficient method of getting beer up to spike camp. :)

+1 on the Consecration, my go to drafts are perdition or Salvation. I'm a bit closer than you, can make it on foot if I have to,
google earth has it at 3.1 miles door to door.:)

Feel like shipping me some bottles? We only see consecration and supplication around here every once in a while. Got my consecration sitting in the cooler waiting but these elk are being difficult. Not a peep to be heard.

I'm typically not a fan of carrying extras but have been known to bring along a bit of bourbon...depending on what I have on hand it could be anything from Basil Hayden, Buffalo Trace, 4 Roses, or some local made stuff.

We enjoyed a nice bottle of pendleton when I got back into camp this weekend with a bull on my back.

I think it's a Hokie thing, but I like it with Crown or Canadian McNaughton (poor mans Crown). Looks like a damn urine sample.

Anyone curious about the differences in single malt, just pour yourself a glass of Laphroaig beside a glass of Aberlour or Balvenie. While I like bourbon almost as much as Scotch, I'd go on record saying the range of flavors is far wider in single malts than it is with bourbons. I say this only to point out that if you claim not to like Scotch, it's probably not that you don't like Scotch, you just don't like the one's you've tried. I can almost guarantee that there's a Scotch out there for anyone who calls himself a whisky drinker.
Well I took your advise and tried some, I think, decent Scotch. First I went out for drinks and to eat, a few nights ago, at a nice restaurant in the big city (Anchorage). I tried a couple high end, or at least the highest end, single malt Scotch's they had, and low and behold, I found them to be very enjoyable. So today, I went out and bought my first bottle ever of Scotch, and I'm enjoying a glass right now. :)
