So I was on a mission this past weekend to try pappy and payed way too much for a glass, but if you are only going to get it once to try then why not. I ordered a 20 and my buddy ordered the 15. IMO the 20 is worth the hype, but the 15 is not. I look forward to giving the 23 a shot when I can find it for a more reasonable price (they had it for $68/shot). While the place that I went to was overpriced for a lot of stuff, they do have the rare ones in stock so it's worth it if you ever want to spoil yourself and try something normally unreachable. The next time I will try some Stagg and Orphan Barrel Lost Prophet, but I can't justify going back anytime soon as I just spent way too much on 2 glasses of whiskey (that were poured quite conservatively).

They must've changed which one sold liquor as the law hasn't changed (although the grocery stores are pushing to get it on the ballot again). Good to know.

Yeah, it's attached to the main store but you have to go through a separate entrance. Macallan 18 year is my go to splurge drink if I'm out to dinner. Fantastic stuff.

You ought to try White Chocolate Grill over at Park Meadows. They have an extensive whiskey list.

As a Distiller for Jack Daniel's, I sure appreciate the support Back Country. My choice is pretty obvious.. :) those of you that like Rye Whiskey should try our new rye, I think you'll like it.

So a few months ago, I was in Copper, the local fancy whiskey drinking establishment. I felt like something new so I asked the bartender if he could suggest something new for a guy that liked to drink the Eagle Rare 10 year. He tells me he is new so he doesn't know, but they have a 17 year old Eagle Rare. SWEEETT! I've been wanting to try the Eagle Rare 17 year for a few years. The first time I was in Copper and tried the 10 year, they had the 17 year, but I was enjoying the 10 that day. So now, I finally have my chance to try the 17 year. So I tell the guy yes. He asks if I want a single or a double. Double all the way. Should he price check it.......No. That's fine. I know its not going to be $10. So he goes to pour the drink. The bar manager sees what he's pouring and comes over to talk to him. Then they bartender brings me the drink. I give him my card. Should he keep it open? No. While he's running the card, the manager comes over and tells me he's really curious how it is because they've been trying to get it in for a few years and just got it in. I am the first person to have a drink out of this bottle. Oh yeah. So then I get the bill for the double Eagle Rare 17 year. Let me tell you, when someone asks if you want to price check it you should always say....YES! Like in Ghostbusters. "when someone asks you 'are you a god?' you say 'yes'".

$114.00 for a double, neat. Ouch.

Wow. I can only imagine how that felt. I never would have guessed eagle 17 would cost that much.

I'm a Scotch guy myself. Although, we usually celebrate success in hunting whitetails over a bottle of LaBatt's.

Whenever I go hiking and am around the campfire, I bring along the flask of Scotch. I've got a few different bottles open right now. I've been drinking Highland Park 12, Lagavulin 12, Balvenie DoubleWood, and Glenfiddich 12 lately. I've gotten a few blends as gifts recently and look forward to trying them out too.

I'm going on my first ever elk hunt this fall and I was thinking about stepping up my game a little. Maybe a Highland Park 18 or a Glenfiddich 21. I've got a little time to think about it.

From the recommendations posted in this thread, I went down the other day and picked up a couple bottles of bourbon that I'd never tried before. Four Roses private selection single barrel barrel strength @ 115.8 proof and Blanton's single barrel @ 93 proof. While both are very nice bourbons, I think I prefer the Four Roses but, the Blanton's sure does have a cool looking bottle.
