I skip breakfast, eat a really late lunch and an early dinner. Usually I eat around 1400 then again around 1800. That’s what works for me during the work week. On the weekends I eat three square meals. I usually carb up Friday night because I do a long run every Saturday.

I don’t count calories anymore. I just eat clean food until I feel satisfied. I don’t eat much bread or pasta. I eat a lot of chicken, pork and venison with rice and vegetables. I eat a lot of fruit for lunch.

Same here - most people don't realize that 3 meals a day came from the European settlers trying to civilize the Native American eating habits.

Had a promotional work physical yesterday. I’m around 210 and was 191 last summer. I feel great at 195 and at 190 I’m a machine. (I’m 6’3) The only way I can get to and stay at the weight is meat and veggies/fruit and moderate cardio. My knees and back are hurting now. Time to get off my ass. Thanks for the motivation.

I've learned that there's a few ways to guarantee success in weight loss. Learn your body type and feed it what it desires. Caloric intake controlled mathematically has to work. If you only take in 1000 calories and burn,1900 a day, you're at a 900 calorie deficiency....that'll be a pound of fat every 3 and a half days or so.

Now...if you watch the calories AND match your food intake to your body needs....AND match your exercise routine, you can kick some serious azz in a hurry, and not feel like poop.

I totally misunderstood this post. I thought you were saying you ate 1400 cals at one meal, 1800 at the next meal and a big carb day. I’m thinking, wow, wish I could eat that much and lose like you have, lol.

I’m curious to hear who weighs in every day or only every Monday morning. I personally weigh in every morning, before coffee. Keeps me motivated and is about as consistent a weigh in as I can do. On mornings when I actually gain something, tho, which happens on all diets, it’s pretty discouraging.

I'll do it. 5'10" 215-220. Shooting for 190. I know I can hit 205 but I need to push it harder.

I'm in for Rokslide fat camp.

231.0 lbs today. Down from 239.5 in December and 270 three years ago. My uncle made a deal with me in December that if I can loose 15 lbs before CO apps are due, he'll get an elk tag, too.

Goals
224.5 by April 2nd
215 by September

I'm already below my high school weight, 235, and the lightest I've been in a decade. Not sure if I'll ever get back to my college weight, 205 lbs. but that would be the ultimate goal. I was pretty shredded then.

Well, between not doing anything for 5 years when I developed pinched nerves in my shoulder turned a cut 5'11" 195 lb guy into a 63 yr old 225lb load with high mileage. Have an elk tag for the last week of September/Wyoming. Want to get below 200. Hoping accountability helps.

It is really more than calorie counting, proper nutrition is where it is at imo. Ratio of protein to fat, good carb sources, avoiding processed foods, avoiding refined sugar, micronutrient rich veggies/fruit, healthy gut, appropriate supplementation that works for you. Then you have sweat equity....and a balanced fitness program which addresses your weak areas while increasing overall fitness, strength, agility, flexibility and endurance. It really becomes a life style.

YMMV.

I like the group accountability. I’m at 6’3” right about #190 and 20% body fat. I’m coming off of 4 months on the couch after shoulder surgery from an injury that’s had my body working against it self for about the last 10 years.
I’m at about a month working with a trainer, main focus has been getting my body working the way it’s supposed to, somewhere along the injury timeline I was told I wasn’t engaging my shoulders/upper back and in attempt to correct that I somehow learned how to disengage my core, loose most of my ab muscle and wear out my shoulders/upper back 🤦🏼‍♂️

Now that it’s not just me floundering around unguided I’m actually making good progress.
The last month has been a steady flogging of my core, cardio and a pretty heavy concentration on overall form. Now that I’m moving properly and not in hibernation mode anymore we’re on to burning this gut off and getting my upper body to where it should be.

I guess I’m not in the same boat as I don’t have a # I’m going for but, my guess is the spare tire/love handles are probably about 5#’s so if I could melt that and put on 5-10 pounds of that muscle stuff, hopefully that translates to 3-5% body fat loss..

Good luck everyone just let me know when it’s time to send I’m my photos for our “boys of summer” calendar

I’m curious, does that make it good or bad? Given I wasn’t around when it was happening but I don’t recall much mention of obesity amongs OGmercians from US history. Or was that after that introduction of European food stuffs?

Of course, I wasn't around then either. But our daily load of physical activity now compared to then is drastically different. Their portions were much smaller as well.

That piece of information was shared to me after my father and uncle both went into the ER for a Quad By-pass and the other a stroke, nearly back to back. The gentleman that shared that with me is a trainer that the studios down here use for cast members on TV or Films - which is a ruthless game down here. I had a lot of emotion after almost losing my father and when I walked into the gym I went straight to him and told him what happened and it was a family trait and I needed to do something..now. So he pulled me aside and he opened our conversation with that line.. very thankful for that day. After more than a dozen swings of around 50lbs in weight over my life, I've never had more control.

No soapbox, just want to be helpful. Every body type has different needs

Life’s journey sure has some bumps doesn’t it. I think more often than not like with yourself there’s something that can be taken from it.

I’ve never been very serious about diet just try to avoid the stuff we all know we shouldn’t have and have some kind of portion control but, I’ve really always been a grazer. I feel like I have better energy level through out the day and fairly consistent (over)weight but, if I were eating proper portions of the right kinds of foods in regular meal intervals that might be different.

I guess that’s something else I’ll be talking to my trainer about.

And I learned of national cereal day for the first time a few hours ago... who am I to argue...

Can the skinny kids join the conversation? 7 weeks ago started a fitness challenge to gain weight, currently 6'1" 173 and trying to get up to that 180 range. Gain two pounds since I started. Hopefully in the next two months I can bulk up to that 180 mark before I go back up to AK.

Fun to watch these types of threads as people meet there goals
