Don't get a 30-06

I know a lot of guys that hunt and hardly any are on here.
I would say 1 out of 40.
In Oklahoma 30/06 is heavily used and I think will always be a favorite.
Same, the 30-06 is incredibly common here in AK, people use it for everything. I think I know like 5 rokslide here in AK but probably ~30 people who use the 30-06 and are not on rokslide.

It’s ok…you are one of those buys that did zero research before buying I’m am guessing and went into the store flying blind…just so many better options out there for skilled marksmen and people that can comprehend the differences in bullet construction and know how to choose the right bullet type for the job
Hmmm, nope, you’re 100% wrong about me. Nice try though.

You also must have missed where I’ve stated multiple times that I have fins chambered in smaller cartridges too.

Please tell all the gun dealers that nobody will buy the 06’s on the shelves. I’ll wait for the clearances. Thank you.
There aren't any on the shelves. You have to order them. All you can find out here is PRC and Creedmore stuff. Maybe one .270 and one .300WM.

Please make sure he understands the need for ear protection when hunting. Even just a shot or two from a braked rifle can lead to permanent hearing damage or ringing. It's a reality I'm all too familiar with.

It's all fine and dandy to be tough until your ears ring 24/7. If not a suppressor, some molded adaptive hearing protection would be a great investment.

And maybe you already have this covered. But anytime I read that a young person is being set up with a brake, I just hope he isn't trading long term hearing damage for short term recoil mitigation.
He always wears ear protection. We use the molded Decibulz and I make him wear muffs over those. Even when hunting. I have severe hearing loss with significant tinnitus in both ears.

They apparently don’t last very long out there I guess? Some guys aren’t getting the message that they are outdated.

If your rifle likes them you won't be disappointed with the Barnes 130 until far enough out that lack of bc becomes an issue. One of mine loves them and it turns them into a mild mannered pussycat.
They are moving fast enough that you don't have to push them hard to make them perform.
A fun plus about them is if you have any 270 loving friends you can run them over a chronograph and compare velocity.- kinda hurts their feelings but you don't ever have to listen again to how much better their 270 is 🤣

I'm gonna give this a try for something to do since we have to use non lead here. in Kalifornistan

If it don't like 130 Barnes then you can try some of the hammers. It is usually pretty easy to get them to shoot.
