Well, we wish our friend Guillermo had gotten the vaccine.
Wife and I were to meet up with him and his wife in September in Cancun like we always do. We opted out of the trip with all of the BS this year, and in spite of our urging them to postpone he laughed it off--literally texted some laugh emojis. He and his wife went anyway (they live in Mexico City.)
His wife texted us on Oct 26th informing us that they both contracted 'rona at the resort, she was asymptomatic, but Guillo died after three long weeks in ICU in Mex City. He was one wealthy son of a gun, multi-millionaire, but all the money in the world couldn't save him.
Wish he had the chance to take a vaccine, we'll miss our dear friend.

Sorry to hear about your friends passing. I am fine if someone decides they want the vaccine as long as they are ok with me not receiving it. I'll take personal choice and liberty over "security" any day.

Mother in law died from it, age 71, no known medical issues; dead in 6 weeks. Buried a widow in our church last week, age 85, rough on their family. My sister works at a major hospital and has seen some bad cases, so Not minimizing potential impact, but I am drawing attention to all of the hype of ‘its safe’ followed by a ‘we aren’t sure of long term impact’. Show me all the math/statistics you want, but even a country boy can see this all don’t add up...............

I'm largely in different, but I am still trying to understand how masks and a vaccine have become the symbol that people have rallied around. With all of the taxes, regulatuons, patriot act, cell phone metadata, and Alexia listening in, this was straw that took our liberty? I really can not grasp it, but I am admittedly no expert on any of it. Just a thought. I fully support everyone's right to make ones own choices.

I think part of it had to do with hundreds of thousands of people being out of jobs by government overreach and deciding who was worthy of eating that day or not.

Those same people for the most part were oblivious to the patriot act 2.0 being passed this year along with all the other constant infringements. I believe some are now awakening to the beast of a government we have created. The only way it stops is if there is mass non compliance and civil disobedience.

I wonder the same. Unfortunately, I think our socialist/commie friends will use this as the precedent that all must take it. And then for every variant. And then for something else. And then some antidote for something that's not even a sickness... And on and on.

My wife took the vaccine yesterday. I can’t blame her though as she works the covid floor in the ER. I’ve never taken a flu shot and I don’t plan on taking a covid shot either. Unfortunately for America the main stream media has pushed the virus into a political agenda. No one benefits from that. I can see a vaccine mandate for future travel though. Until I’m forced, I will stay away from the vaccine.

Sorry for your loss Broomd. I’ll be getting the poke as soon as they’ll let me. It would be pretty hard for me to come to this site and see folks making light of what killed my loved ones so I think it’s prudent to remember that even if you think it’s not as big a deal as it’s made out to be, people have still lost their wives, husbands, brothers, sisters, and children to it.

It's easy to gain "compliance" when you destroy livelihoods. The gov't won't have to mandate, people will line up for it. I'd be all about it too if I thought I could get my life back. Do your due diligence and decide if the vaccine is right for you.

Thanks, and I do agree with you; the second someone grabs the needle to chase us around, our liberty is on the line.

The grand irony is that masks and vaccines are the most direct way to get back toward where we were prior to COVID and regain what we can of what has been lost. And yet the very people who claim to be the greatest supporters of all that - true patriots- seem to be the very people who are that work the hardest at doing up with excuses as to why not.

It is that old adage "give an inch they will take a mile". I have no problem complying with a private businesses desire if I choose to patronize said business. I have a serious issue with government overreach. It's not about safety it is always about control.

The moment you threaten to take away someone's business or livelihood because they won't comply with your demands is when I have a issue. Think of the lives lost to the virus regardless of how you feel about the inflation of numbers for the sake of this I'll assume they are correct. So take in the numbers of increased suicide due to the lockdowns and unemployment shutdowns and layoffs. Take also in to account for the families that are losing income permanently or semi permanently do to that and the next generation coming up impoverished. Or about the homes/cars being repossessed from people that did nothing wrong because some bureaucrat decided they couldn't operate their business any longer. The long term effects of these shutdowns far outweigh the toll of the virus in my opinion.

You can not take away someone's freedom in the guise of public safety. If you are worried about the virus or have a family member that's high risk wear your mask and a tychem suit for all I care but don't try to force others to do the same that do not feel the need to.
