Wow... a cow tag I could get at 2nd-3rd choice all day long for years is now 4 points... Time to step up the training to out hike and outsmart the orange army during the OTC seasons this year I guess. At least I got my bear tag.

One unit jumped from 15 NR points to a 33% chance at 19…
 
The point creep is due to wolf reintroduction. Period. All the top point holders are going to join the mix. They would rather hunt a "lesser unit" and have a chance at a good representative animal versus wait for the top unit and potentially not have even a decent animal walk by.

It is only going to get worse.

I used 13pp 2022 just to beat the rush. By the time I draw again I'll likely have 5pp and not because I was electing for a point. Lol
 
When it comes to add on bear tags, does anyone know when your able to purchase? I drew 74 archery and have never purchased a bear tag anywhere. Figured I may as well as it sounds like theres plenty in the area and if towards the end of my hunt I cant locate any elk maybe I will come across yogi.

The add on tags are available for my unit, but I cant figure out how to purchase one online. Didnt want to bother anyone at CPW.

Add-on Bear Over-the-Counter Licenses
Add-on archery and muzzleloader bear OTC licenses go on sale August 1, 2023 at 9am MT.
Some archery and muzzleloader bear licenses are available in unlimited numbers this year as "add-on" licenses. You can add on one of these bear licenses if you have a deer or elk license for the same season/method of take and at least one hunting unit overlaps.

Thank you buddy. I looked and looked and couldn't find that. Felt like a jerk asking but figured you guys would Obviously know the deal. I appreciate it!
 
Put in for 1st rifle for the first time in a unit that has always been 100% with one point.Did not draw which is ok with me as I would have had to turn it in
