What bow?

I want to see who is using them as a crutch, or who is still fully tuning flight.

I hunt deer and antelope with SEVR and absolutely use a mechanical as a crutch. I can half ass tune my bow and they fly wonderfully. It takes quite a bit more work to get my IW to fly straight before elk season ( I am a big believer in bare shafts hitting the same as fletched at distance).

My external excuse for using SEVR for the challenge is I am tuned and sighted in to my light 3d and antelope arrow currently and antelope is the first critter I will hunt this fall anyway. If this challenge was in the 2 weeks between antelope season and elk season, I would be shooting a heavier arrow with an IW on the front of it.

If I am being honest it takes more data points than I personally could collect to make any definitive statements. I will say though that so far all the critters I have shot a SEVR into have died very quickly with only one getting poor penetration but that was a shot placement issue rather than a broadhead issue, I believe. I have friends that have had success with mechanicals on elk, but I am sticking with the IW and will be meticulous when tuning my arrows to make them fly.

One thing that makes tuning difficult for me is that ANY poor form when shooting a bare shaft will have large variances down range. I have to get into shooting shape before I can reasonably tune by bow.

More sensitive than fixed blade heads for sure.

Been shooting almost every night to relax from a very busy work schedule , shot a 3D shoot Saturday and now to start with the broadheads still in the quiver from hunting season.

I haven’t shot in about 2 months since I changed careers. Here’s the first two arrows with my new thumb release, Trufire Synapse.

My first arrow was off cause my peep was twisted and then aimed at it for the second arrow!

I don’t think so. Last year there was some inconsistency so that’s why we have a time zone this year.

Remember, this is all on the honor system and what the rules say is “shoot in real time”.

But I can also tell when we open the thread at 8:15 by how fast the posts pile up, the guys have shot before 815, but as long as it’s the same day, close enough.

Heads up to our contributing forum members. @nphunter did a little survey on last year's challenge and found there is a significant number of shooters entering with a very low post count. That's no crime and we want everyone to become a better bowhunter, but for you guys that contribute a lot in the discussions/reviews, that is why we have the double entry for 300 posts (on the day you qualify). It's also the simplest way for the mods to judge the contest but...

wanted so give you all a heads up that the contest filled in 7 days last year and should go faster this year with the Swaro' as the lead prize, so....don't dilly dally if you want to get in.

No matter when we hold the contest (been tried from April to June) it's still someone's turkey season, fishing opener, MIL Birthday, full moon, whatever so if you're gone, hurry and get back. One year I was on travel and just took my bow and target with me and shot on the lawn at the cabins I was staying at. All I'm saying is make it happen if you want to be in this!
